I knew the recipes would be good having watching Dylan on his YT channel, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the book. It's a solid hardcover with stitched binding and substantial pages. The photography and printing are stellar. Many of the recipes are those I remember my mother and grandmother making. They have few ingredients and the steps are easy to follow. This is definitely a good book to have if you have children that you want to get them interested in baking at a young age.
The spiral bound helps keep it open and the paper is high quality and able to withstand being an open cook book where the occasional cloud if flour or spot can occur. Great photos of the recipes and good tips. A lot of the recipes are novel and fun to make as well as photo and talk about. It you're looking to surprise guests with a quirky, tasty dessert, this is the cookbook for you!
This book contains recipes from early in the 1900's then goes by decade through the most popular or unusual recipes. The baking instructions are very clear, with good pictures. Some of the recipes are gluten free or dairy free. I would recommend this book to own or as a gift to a baker. vf
Has some great recipes, beautiful pictures of the food, funny writing which are reflections of Dylan’s videos, and as a twist, the book as a collection of the worst recipes. Which is rare for cookbooks to do, and I’m glad that Dylan decided to do this. It shows that not every recipe is a good idea.
B. Dylan is nuts!!! And I’m nuts for this cookbook! Many simple recipes that are fun to make and quite tasty. I find myself laughing out loud to his videos. So I had to have his book to get the recipes in print.
Worth the money and fun to make, easy directions and Yumm
With recipes now available all over these interwebs, why would one want to get a cookbook? Well, this author has scoured and tested the recipes that some of us grew up with to find the ones that tickled his taste buds. If that were all, that would be enough. However, the pictures and commentary made this book a purchase that I am happy to say has pleased me more than finding a recipe online. Some of the recipes were ones that I have been making for years and are in my well-worn index card box that my mom gave me when I moved-out after college 40+ years ago. I rifle through that box now and then because they are organized never. With this book, I can flag my favorites and have it right at hand. I like the permanence of books.
Fun writing and easy-to-follow recipes. The wacky cake is an immediate favorite, and I can't wait to try more!
