About halfway through and I can already recommend this book. I talk about it all the time with fellow parents and help them to learn how we can be better. This is a great resource for anyone wanting to change the parenting cycle and help build those resilient kids who will be able to handle the crazy world we live in and that it only is going to get worse
“Good inside” is a wonderful guide for anyone who would like to become a better parent, more understanding and supportive to themself and their child.
Everything I ever wanted to articulate about my parenting ideals - and so much more. Easy to read. Practical advice. Translates outside of parenting in many ways, too. Respectful. Effective. Compassionate. This is my top recommendation for parenting books.
A great reminder that even though your kids do this and that to drive you nuts, your kids are still so good inside.
Still reading but you learn a lot about your brain and your kids. Humbling and makes you learn without feeling crappy
Dr. Becky Kennedy's book was recommended to me from a fellow parent who knows we've been struggling with behavioral issues with out little one. From that parent's description alone I jumped in with both feet and I'm so glad I did! As a parent struggling with a child having behavioral issues at school I have never felt so seen, I was in tears when I realized that this is normal and there is a way to move past it. This book spoke to me in a way no other book or person has been able to. I felt many times Dr. Becky was writing about my life and experiences withe my little one, but she also gave solid reasoning to why we're seeing the behaviors and how to work through it. She addressed common issues from every side, giving parents the ability to understand and help you be more empathetic as well as helping you see a path forward. I also love how she incorporated relationships with the other people in your life and showed how her core concepts can be applied across the board with any relationship.
A friend heard about this author in her class and told me about her. I looked her up and found this book. I thought, probably not going to help, and nothing new to learn. However, this is the BEST parenting/relationship book I have ever read in my life. I couldn't recommend it more!! I can truly relate to everything. Very insightful and helpful! The strategies work better than anything we've ever done with my PANS diagnosed SPD son. Buy the book!
Becky does a wonderful job of explaining the why behind her recommendations. She makes you feel like it's doable and effective. Kids deserve this book, every parent should have to read it.
