Our 7-year-olds piano instructor required the books. They are user friendly and the content is easily recognizable.
My 7 year old uses this book with her piano teacher and we love it. It’s easy for her to follow even when she’s not with her teacher.
My daughter is taking piano lessons, and this is the book the instructor asked me to order for her next. It's the Lesson Book. Hot tip: the songs in the Gold Star *Performance* book (also Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber), are more interesting to play. I learned this because I accidentally ordered the wrong book from abebooks dot com. Overall, a happy mistake.
I used these books growing up and I use them for all my students! They are so fun and each piece teaches something new. It can be a little slow when combined with the other books though, so I recommend prioritizing the lesson and theory books if you want a bit of an accelerated experience. Also… this is not a beginner book! Start with the primer level if you’re just barely starting. If you already know basic staff reading and dynamics then this is the book for you.
Fantastic for beginner piano players!
I have used The Faber Piano Method Series for the past 16 years because it is absolutely the BEST out there. The method introduces students to all styles and genres of music, and it assists with understanding chords and key structures much sooner than other available methods. In addition, the pieces are both fun and challenging for students to play. I’ve used every method on the market, and Faber outshines them all.
Piano Adventures offers a good tutorial and a pleasing repertoire for the beginning piano student .
I have taught piano to elementary school students and adults for 15+ years. There are many tried and true piano series out there and most of them have pictures and printed font from the 1940's and 1950's. They look dated and boring. Not this book! The husband and wife team who put out the Faber and Faber piano series have created a new, fresh look and feel while still presenting the basics of piano technique and music theory. Your student may be learning a classic piece like Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, but the accompaniments are new and gorgeous. Many have wonderful teacher duet arrangements that are great the adult learner who does not want to learn 'baby' songs as they begin acquiring a new skill. I love that this book includes pages of fun activities that teach music theory (counting, rhythm, dynamics) in such a fun way that the kids learn without realizing it. I think this book is an awesome addition to any piano teacher's list of resource books for their students. Try one, you will be hooked and want to buy them all!
