Book is quite thin, 32 pages. Has 11 pages of pre-staff reading, i.e. no staff, the note letter is written on large quarter notes/half notes for the child to play. 18 Primer pieces, and an additional 10 pre-staff pre-reading. It's definitely aimed at students who either need some more material at the Primer level, or need a selection for a recital at the average Primer level. It has teacher duets, so that's nice. I'd say it is exactly at the Primer level, not higher. Useful for its purpose, I would guess. Now, in contrast, the Primer Gold Star Performance book (which I also own) is, IMO, Level 1. I'd say that any student who can tackle the Primer Gold Star Performance book is pretty much by definition a Level 1 student. Ledger notes, harmonic intervals. My son is now going into Level 2A and there's no way he could sight read from the Primer Gold Star Performance book, he'd have to work on those pieces.
This was required for my daughter's piano lessons. This level is perfect for her as an 8 year old beginner :D
Perfect for my 8 year old daughter.
Piano teacher and kid are loving this book.
Love their way of progression
This book was exactly what we were looking for! What we love about the book is that my 10 year old works in it with his piano teacher and then brings it home and I am able to work through it with him too and I am not a piano teacher nor have I ever had any experience. But I feel like I’m learning right along with him which makes it really fun for the both of us. We bought two of these books. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn!
I bought for my 7 year old daughter when she started piano lessons and they are perfect when you are just starting out learning! Our piano teacher recommended these books and I definitely agree!
My son is doing really well with this book. Great starter book
