KDP How to Get Reviews

How to Get Reviews for Your Book

Now that you have a book published on KDP, it’s time to get readers to leave reviews.

Add a Review Section in Your Book

In your book, you can create a page either in the front or the back with a note to your readers/customers to please leave a review about your book and let others know how they liked it. You can also tell them how leaving a review will help you grow as a new author or help other readers know more about your book. Never ask your readers to leave a 5-star review this is not allowed per Amazon KDP’s guidelines.

Social Media

Create engaging posts about your book on your social media accounts: Facebook, Instagram, and X, etc., that encourage your followers to check out your book.

Give Them Away

One effective strategy is to give away your book in exchange for reviews. You could run a free promotion through KDP Select or share digital copies with book bloggers and reviewers.

Join Review Groups

Join online author groups or forums to connect with other writers and readers who might be interested in reviewing your book.

Inform Your Subscribers

If you have an email list of subscribers, let them know about your new release. Ask them to leave a review if they enjoy your book. Personal, direct communication can be very effective.

Inform yourself with the KDP rules about reviews, you do not want to violoate any rules to keep your account safe. Never ask for a 5-star review; this is against Amazon KDP’s guidelines. Getting reviews takes time and effort, but it’s worth it. Focus on delivering value to your readers, and the reviews will follow. Keep writing, promoting, and connecting with your audience. Every review, big or small, is a step forward in building your author brand.
