Having purchased all the previous sets (and reviewed them :D), we are all in! The books in this set are now 16 pages long, double the previous sets (A-D). But instead of 25 books, there are now only 16. There is much less repetition than previous sets and we now have longer sentences. We’re introduced to 3+ syllable words (invitation, everyone, butterfly) and words that take a bit more thought to figure out. The recommended reading level for this set is K-2. I feel that’s very appropriate, leaning towards more 1st grade level. I feel like these are actual stories now and can also be purchased to read to your child. There are some reimagined classics like Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza, Stone Stew, and Ghosterella. I’ve posted some pictures of the previous sets (A, C) and subsequent First Little Readers sets (G, H, Folk & Fairy Tale) for comparative purposes.
5 yr old can read, and enjoy
This set is perfect for your emerging reader. They are short enough to not tire out the beginning reader but interesting enough to keep their attention.
I bought this set of books to help my grandson with his reading skills. He has really enjoyed them and there's plenty for him to choose which ones he'd like to read.
My students find these readers hilarious and want to read them. WIN! Scholastic is a trusted company in education and their leveling system is a benchmark for many other systems. I like that I can easily track progress with their levels.
Nice to read for kids early first grade redears.
Perfect addition to our homeschool library.
I can't speak highly enough of the "First Little Readers: Guided Reading Levels E & F (Parent Pack)." These books were recommended by my daughter's teacher to boost her confidence and foster continued growth as a reader, especially considering her struggle with dyslexia. The selection of 16 books proved to be instrumental in her reading journey. The leveled approach caters perfectly to her abilities, providing just the right challenge without overwhelming her. The engaging stories and clear progression have not only helped her gain confidence but have also made reading a joy for her. For parents seeking effective tools to support their child's literacy development, especially those dealing with dyslexia, I wholeheartedly recommend this product. It's been a game-changer for us, and I'm grateful for the positive impact it has had on my daughter's reading skills.
