About This Book

Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had.

Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of. There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam.

And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life. At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.

I liked this book. I love Lucy Score’s ability to bring vivid characters to life. I don’t know why I expected this book to be more dramatic than it turned out to be. Deeply unserious but very funny and light hearted and fun to read.

Great Read

This was a great story, very fast paced and the characters were very well developed. The only thing I would change would be the length of the. I think this story could have been told in a book half the length.

5/5! highly recommend

I started this book based on the star reviews I saw on kindle, and after it was done, I can truly say I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I do think that the story was a little slow-paced in the beginning, but not so bad that I had to stop reading entirely. I loved how Lucy Score gave so many details into everything that it truly did have me immersed in her book. This book very much had me picturing a little town, like Stars Hallow from Gilmore Girls. It primarily focusing on two characters- Naomi and Knox. Two totally different personalities and obviously drawn together by love, of course. The book also focuses on other characters (which spoiler alert- they become some of the main characters in the 2nd and 3rd books, too). Naomi, a runaway bride who comes to a new town after her twin sister asked for help. Twin sister turned evil... abandons her 11-year-old daughter, Waylay, and steals all of Naomi's belongings, and leaves Naomi to watch Waylay indefinitely. As Naomi struggles to make ends meet, there's one man who comes to her rescue, Knox. He is known to be the biggest "macho-man" as I would call it, very stereotypical sexy, tattooed biker who doesn't give a rat's ass about anything "supposedly." Knox wants nothing to do with a needy, high maintenance woman who has a sick obsession over coffee (like Lorelai from Gilmore Girls), but Knox can't seem to help himself and stay away. The one thing I wasn't a fan of was her description of the more intimate scenes, like "his weapon of mass destruction," *cringe* (which come way later on in the book and there's only like two of descriptions of sex scenes), so I was ok with passing through. I give this book a 5/5 because Lucy Score definitely outdid herself while writing this story. I'm tempted to continue picking up the rest of her other books. She took the time to focus on other characters in the book and not solely on Naomi and Knox, giving us that real small-town vibe feel and giving us the proper character development that they all deserved. But for the most part, this was a fun, lighthearted read that was uplifting and kept your heart hoping for more.

I was meandering through best Sellers when I can across this book. I saw all the reviews and thought...it's gotta be great if so many people love it! I was not let down. Loved the vocabulary and even learned a few new words. Characters were well described, interesting and relatable. Loved that the end was so thrilling. Can't wait for the next book!!!

3.75/5 ⭐️ Age Rating: 18+ Pros: Loveable characters Comforting Read Great escape (I would so live in this town if I could) It made me really want to read the other books in the series Had me feeling all the emotions! Cons: Very unrealistic (I don't think that's too much of a bad thing, though...) The ending felt slightly rushed Sometimes cringey dialogue This book was honestly such a good romance! I loved how unrealistic and cheesy it was at times and it proved to be such a fun escape. I don't think it's peak quality but I can't doubt or complain about how much I enjoyed reading it. I try to base reviews off of how the book made me feel while also being realistic about how good of quality the book objectively is. Make sure that going into it, you know that this is supposed to be an unrealistic, feel-good book. Now there are some emotional and intense scenes in it but that just makes it all the more intriguing! I honestly was on the edge of my seat with how invested I was in these characters. A couple of them felt like cliche characters but Lucy Score still managed to make them interesting and enjoyable. The situations she came up with just made me laugh and they did a good job of showing off the characters and how they behave. One thing I did find annoying, however, was how back and forth Knox was with things. And I know that's the point of things... man says he doesn't care or want to help and yet still does anyway even though he wants not commitment. But I felt it was slightly too constant and obvious. That didn't stop it from making me slightly giddy every time though... Honestly, if you know the purpose behind the book and what you're signing up for, this is an amazing storyline. I'm super excited to read the rest of the Knockemout books because I'm WAY too invested in this small town!

Amazing!!

This is the first book of the “Knockemout” series and can be read as a stand alone. Though I am jumping straight to book two after this one. Omg I love Knox and Naomi!!! Knox is so damn yummy. Even when I wanted to knee him in the balls I still loved him. His actions spoke so much louder than his words. Naomi was dealt some pretty crappy cards but this girl is a fighter. I am so proud of her. I would like to middle finger salute her sister!! Don’t get me wrong these two stole the show but the side characters were fantastic! I can’t wait to read Nash’s story (I didn’t miss the “wife” part at the end). I love Stef, Jeremiah, Fi, Sloan, Lucian, Amanda, Lou, and so many more!! The book was not short by any means but I never felt like it drug on. I heard bad reviews so I was worried but I am not sure how people didn’t like this book. It was sexy, sweet, heartfelt, sad, with some mystery/suspense built in. I was so invested in this book. This is a GREAT read!!
