The number one best-selling series that Audible listeners call “wonderfully entertaining”, “packed with humor, geek references and thought-provoking storylines”, and performed by “a true master story teller and actor” returns as the Bobs face their deadliest challenge yet. The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all.
But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy. Sure, it could settle the Fermi Paradox for good (and what Bob doesn’t want to solve a mystery of the universe?). But it also reveals a threat to the galaxy greater than anything the Bobs could have imagined.
Just another average day in the Bobiverse.
In a universe where digital consciousness is the linchpin of exploration, Not Till We Are Lost marks the exhilarating return of the Bobiverse saga. The Bobiverse's prime maestro, Bob, once again finds himself navigating the complexities of both a burgeoning digital realm and expanding interstellar frontiers. A tale that intertwines humor with unfathomable challenges, this latest installment is as much a reflection on identity and connection as it is a grand adventure amongst stars.
Bobiverse continues to explore complex interstellar realms deepening its innovative narrative and world-building. Themes of identity friendship and survival are skillfully woven into the fabric of this gripping science fiction saga. The story captivates with humor while tackling existential questions in a universe where consciousness knows no bounds.
As Bob embarks on a new chapter he finds both the familiar and uncharted lurking within his path. Grappling with a discovery that challenges everything he knew Bob's journey becomes an intricate dance of risk and reward. What unfolds is a tale rich in sci-fi wonder threading humor through the endless corridors of digital consciousness.
Amidst the mosaic of cosmic mystery Bob faces dilemmas that test his digital soul's mettle. Straddling lines between knowledge and chaos the layers of Bob's universe unfold revelations and perilous wonders. Every interaction trembles with potential escalating into an epic narrative of survival and discovery.
Through layered storytelling Not Till We Are Lost captivates audiences propelling Bob not only further from home but deeper into the intricacies of his own identity. As alien landscapes become stages for philosophical encounters readers are invited to ponder the essence of existence. With stakes as vast as the stars themselves this book presents an amalgam of technical marvel and thoughtful inquiry keeping the essence of beloved series alive while propelling it into unforeseen terrains.
The strength of Not Till We Are Lost lies in its ability to blend seamless wit with profound existential themes creating a narrative both light-hearted and thought-provoking The innovations in storytelling captivate as the book continually pushes the boundaries of what it means to interact and evolve in an infinite universe Its rich layered narrative inspires and entertains Bob's evolution creates a compelling experience drawing readers into a universe where the lines between reality and digital consciousness blur It's where science fiction meets heart and intellect.

I have listened to the series many times over as I drive for work. I was excited when this book was released because I love the setting and the author. This book is less focused as the others are, but it provides expose on many of the other characters that pointed their ships and just went for it. The usually characters are present. The skippies still think they know more have things under control. Howard is still Howard. Bill and Gar are still skunk working. The setting moves forward. New things are introduced, and things are still fun. Definitely worth your time. And to the people giving one-star reviews because it's currently on audible only. Shame on you. Leave a review about the story, not because you cannot consume it in the way you demand to.
They say 'travel broadens the mind'. Nowhere in my literary travels has this been more true than when travelling through time, space and the infinite landscapes of human endeavors, foibles and heroism with the Bobs! If you are reading this, you're probably already familiar with the bobiverse. If you are not, this is certainly not the title you want to start with. Many thanks Dennis (and Ray)!! Lastly (as an aside), to that small minority who came here with 1-star-gripes only to complain about release dates of the audiobook vs. the print edition being some kind of amazonian conspiracy...that's just silly, and in context, ironic. It takes a LONG time to print and distribute a million or so hard-copy books. This is exacerbated by the dwindling number of human beings who actually have time to sit still and read a hard-copy of ANYTHING these days. Because the market for words printed on paper and bound into book form has shrunken to near nothingness, getting time on one of the few remaining high-volume presses is difficult to begin with, not to mention the horrendous environmental waste of trees and other plant matter that require chemical bleaching to make book-quality paper. If you don't like the global economic and information trends that are causing printed books (and magazines, and newspapers) to lose market share, don't take it out on the artists and authors who make a living serving the markets that dominate modern reality.
First off, the elephant in the room. It's Audible only for now, and a lot of people are unhappy about that. I'm also a little displeased but I don't know the thought process that went into the decision, I assume the exclusivity helped pay the bills. So I won't knock off any stars for that. It does help, quite a lot, that the narration is pretty good. I normally stick to non-fiction for my audio books because it's very easy for a narrator to annoy me when voicing multiple characters, but I think in the whole book this narrator only had one character voice that bugged me, and she only had a few lines. I actually enjoyed all the others so that mollified me a fair bit. I can't say too much about the book without doing spoilers, but it is a bit more scattered than most. Once again we have an alien species that the Bobs have to 'infiltrate' for a while, but while in Heaven's River this was a huge part of the book and the major thread, in this one it's more a B-plot. This book doesn't actually have an A-plot, actually. It's more a bunch of more minor plots running in parallel. This does make it a bit harder to follow than some previous books, but the Bobiverse books have always had multiple plot threads going on, so it's not that out of form. It is less about the problem-solving that Bob has had to do in the previous ones, though. There's some of that, but fans of that part may leave feeling a bit hungry. Personally, while it took some getting used to, I think I'm fine with this direction. A couple minor points would maybe knock off half a star if Amazon allowed partial star ratings, but in all I kinda devoured the book so it still has me hooked, I guess!
If it's only ever going to be an audio book I have no further interest in it. I enjoy "reading" your books. I hope I'm misunderstanding this.
First off, lets get it out of the way that so far after less than one week from release, the only 1 star reviews are from people complaining that an "audible original" book is by surprise to no one only available in audiobook format right now. The digital version to read is available four months after release which has been the same for prior Bobiverse books. Dennis E. Taylor has captured my heart once again, and I’m already planning to listen to this for a second time now that I’ve finished my first run. While Heaven’s River (book 4) took us away from space for a bit, book 5 brings our replicant friends back to the stars. We meet some new characters, revisit familiar faces, and of course, get to enjoy the creative problem-solving that Taylor is so good at. The adventures of ______ and ______ were a highlight, and I loved seeing where their journeys took them. This book feels like a blend of the concepts from book 4 and the earlier entries in the series (1-3). I was surprised by how one of the early conflicts wrapped up, but since space is big, really big, events naturally take their time to unfold. Taylor plans to write around 10 books in the Bobiverse series, but that’s still flexible according to him. This installment sets the stage perfectly for the next, giving him multiple paths to explore. There are no cliffhangers here, thankfully, and it wraps up nicely like the previous books. The pacing is smooth, and this time, there’s less jumping between timelines, making it easier to follow the progression of events. Overall, this book didn’t disappoint, and I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next one in my favorite audiobook series. Dennis, thank you for sharing your imagination with the world!
if you do not have time to listen to the book, you certainly do not have time to actually read it. stop complaining.
