Elspeth and Ravyn have gathered most of the twelve Providence Cards, but the last—and most important—one remains to be found: the Twin Alders.
If they’re going to find the card before Solstice and set free the kingdom, they will need to journey through the dangerous mist-cloaked forest. The only one who can lead them through is the monster that shares Elspeth’s head: the Nightmare. And he’s not eager to share any longer.

A dark, twisted, poetic, lovely story. Not too racey, perfectly tantalizing. Romantic to its core. Very well thought out, kudos to the author for her hard work and wonderful writing!!!
I almost didn't finish this when I got to part 3 because it was so dark from the insurmountable odds the characters faced. For a storyline about balance, it did not feel balanced. It was a bit depressing by the end. With that said, I loved the first book, and I loved all the main characters. They evolved beautifully throughout the story to become a better version of themselves. The writing style was polished and creative, and for the most part it had me reading every spare minute I had. For that, I give it 5 stars. The romance was sparing and well done.
Book2 picks up exactly where book 1 left you…breathless to know what comes next and it keeps you buckled up for the entire ride. HOWEVER…… I was not a fan of how Game of Thrones was ended and, well, I’ll just leave it there . Overall a very good story that 100% kept you glued to the book.
I am heartbroken that this is the conclusion to the duology. I finished this second book even faster than the first! I was very curious how this book would pick up after the ending of the last. I was surprised and delighted. The first book was mainly in one POV and this book switches to multiple, which was artfully written. I fell in love with Elm much more in this book! This story is heartbreaking, romantic, mysterious, and intriguing. I really appreciated the increase in banter between characters (many of them!). It kept it funny or tense even during slower parts of the book.
Gut wrenching, beautiful, and clever. This series is one to remember. Beautiful prose and such a fantastical world. So grateful I took this journey. A rare 5 stars from me.
Well spun, well told, well written. The character development was phenomenal. Especially since it concludes in only 2 books. The first book reminded me of beauty and the beast, if the beast were an older, dead king and belle his adoptive daughter perhaps. But this book, it delves into the past so much more and then begins to be told from multiple perspectives. So boon 2 is far less like beauty and the beast, turning into its own thing. The old lore that this is founded on is also well told. So many stories spun into this one. I’m adhd big time and I really liked this. The ending nearly had me in tears. Which is saying a lot. Definitely going to get a physical copy to add to my collection.
I can’t begin to express how much I enjoyed this duet, even though I usually don’t read YA. Firstly, the author knew when to end the book and not drag it out unnecessarily like so many authors nowadays. This book is well written, great world building (even though it could use a map but I think that about every book), interesting characters and new take on magic. However, I could see the long plot easily enough in the description of the characters and the memories told. There were no surprises in the storyline, except about the Maiden card. Again, just an overall great read of both books. I will look forward to more from this author.
Such a great read. Fast paced, great characters and no fillers, straight to the point with a wonderful story. So well written.
