We discovered this through a Wendy's kids meal promo. Then I bought the set here at Amazon. It arrived in 2 days. What can I say? The narration is excellent! The story is simple, yet, well written to inspire your child to sit in his/her seat and use their imagination. It has given me "sanity" in my drives with the kids, with the treasured silence that has filled the air, as they listen to the cd. We've purchased the books as well, and it is great to have it to read along with. Listening to the author narrate also has made me a better story reader to my children. My kids are 5 y.o. and 3 y.o. And they can follow the story really well. And I have a 9 month old baby, too...and the CD gets him sleeping pretty well while we drive.
We love these books. My four year old listens to them at night as he goes to sleep. Helps keep him in bed. Only that could be improved is that some start in the middle of the CD and continue on the next, so I have to switch CDs partway through the story.
I bought this audiobook for the first time when my oldest child was 4. I have three kids ages 7, 4 and 2 now and all three of them still enjoy listening to magic treehouse in the car. We have bought every magic treehouse book available on audible and my kids can’t get enough of them. Mary Pope Osbourne feels like a friend to our family. My 2 year old listens to this particular book every single night to go to bed.
I spend a lot of time with my grandkids (7 y/o and 9 y/o) including driving them to/from home, picking them up after school and driving them to various activities. I have coloring books and other things for them to do while I'm driving them around, but what they've come to love are stories on CD. They absolutely love this Magic Treehouse Collection. As soon as they enter my car, they ask if they can hear a story. The narrator speaks clearly and at a perfect speed. She also uses different voice tones for the different characters in the story. There is only one thing I didn't like which is a minor thing: This is a 5-disc CD set with 8 stories which are heard one right after the other over the 5 CDs. The names of the stories and on which CD they appear is not labeled on the CDs. The carton for the CDs just has the names of the stories but doesn't tell you what CD they're on. So, if my grandkids want to listen to a specific story, you would need to guess on which CD the story begins and then fast forward the CD to locate the story. I easily solved this for my set by listening to all the stories, marking down the CD and track numbers for each story and then labeling this info onto the carton that holds the CDs. Overall, this purchase is a real winner for me and well worth what I paid.
We listen to books on CD in the car, even on short trips to the grocery store. I was very excited when I found the Magic Tree House collection. Although the books may have been written for older children, our four year old loves to listen to the stories and talks a lot about them. He integrates parts of the various stories in his play at home, and our car rides, short and long ones, have become very enjoyable. I would say that the Magic Tree House collection is appropriate for kids starting at the age of four. There is no violence, but unlimited possibilities for playful kids imagination in the world of pirates, dinosaurs, knights etc.
My kiddos love listening to the books while they are playing in their playroom. I'm gonna have to buy the rest of the series! Definitely love hearing some of the books that got me to fall in love with reading.
I bought this primarily for my five year old (although I think the toddler benefits from hearing it as well) while we're riding in the car, because we spend at least 30-45 minutes per day in the car. She loves listening to the stories and for the most part listens intently and occassionally asks questions about what is going on in the story and why Jack or Annie said or did something in particular. The audio book is the way to go; much better than getting a DVD/TV player installed in your car. The author, Mary Pope Osborne, does a good job inflecting her voice to engage my daughter. I highly recommend this audio book series for anyone with youngsters who need a distraction while in the car. We have 2 more stories left in this disc set and I plan on buying the next series as soon as I get tired of hearing this set over and over again!
My almost 5 year old can’t stop listening to Magic Tree House books. The audible quality is wonderful. The stories are engaging and educational. He can’t wait to see where Jack and Annie go on each trip.
