Well it lays flat and is cheap. It also has instructions for starting and ending and some stitches. But not a lot else. No tips or tricks or things to watch out for. No patterns, or even suggestions of things to make. I think spending a little more money would have got me something way more usable. I think I'm going to have to try again - this book is not going to make me a crocheter!
I bought this product for my 14 year old daughter. It is an excellent way for her to learn the basic stitches needed to follow crochet patterns. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn.
I have had many crochet instruction books; this is my favorite by far. As you can see from my photos, the pages in my book are a bit abused, but in one piece. I carry my book & crochet bag with me everywhere. The spiral binding makes it easier to use while crocheting, and the pages don’t fall out of the book. (Common problem for me.) The instructions are clear and easy to understand, and the intro pages at the beginning give a great refresher and reference on reading patterns, hook position, and basic crochet processes. I wish it had a few more stitch designs, but it includes 11, so there is plenty to learn. Finally, it teaches edging, joining pieces, and finishing projects of various kinds. The instructions are easy to follow with arrows and different colored yarn in joining pieces section so it’s easier to follow. Overall, I would recommend 10/10 times! The only hiccup I’ve found is pages on working in the round; the way it’s laid out, I need to flip pages in mid-stitch, as the instructions are laid out over four pages and taught in two methods, but it is easy to flip the pages and book and it’s a great way to learn how similar stitches work for different projects.
I’m using this book to teach crochet to younger girls. It’s simple enough for them to follow with beautiful pictures! It’s detailed and has a variety of stitches. I like that the binding is spiraled because you can lay the book flat open. I can’t recommend this book enough!
A lot of Information in a "small package". Simple and easy to follow.
This is a small book but full of content. There were so many answers to questions I have about crochet. There were very clear instructions and beautiful pictures. The book also comes spiral bound but it is made of durable material. This was well worth the price. Thank you.
Easy to follow instructions, and quality pictures.
This book has beautiful color photos that are clear and with good instructions. It was not damaged or moldy, like some reviews stated, and all of the pages were there in their correct order. There very definitely are instructions for doing the Basketweave, although one reviewer complained it wasn’t there. I bought 2 of these books and found no problems in either of them. It gives you instructions for a lot of stitches that I have never used, and it will be fun using them. The Chevron pattern clearly states that you need to use multiples of 10 + 1 stitches for this. That is what 1 Chevron stitch needs. I like that it gives you so much useful information, including showing many sizes of needles and explaining what the different types and uses there are for different sizes of yarns and the crochet hooks needed for them. I could easily learn to crochet with this book alone, and I’m sure that my daughter and granddaughter will love their book!
