NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Through gorgeous photography and heartfelt essays, the interior designer and author of Made for Living reveals her detail-oriented approach to renovating, decorating, and building a beautiful home. The details can make a room. The bullnose edge of a marble countertop.
The wood grain and color of the flooring. The particular pleat of the drape. Amber Lewis, the esteemed designer known for her signature California-inspired style, obsesses over the tiniest of features to create her eclectic, laid-back look.
In Call It Home, she shares her secrets to choosing and applying fabric, paint, finishes, tile, flooring, and more for a beautifully designed home, shortcutting the often-overwhelming decision-making process. Amber walks you through eight new homes she designed—including her own—and the thought processes behind every major choice. Whether you're decorating one room, renovating your entire house, or planning new construction, she shares how to approach a project from start to finish, guiding you on how to find the right team so you can get the perfect results.
Then she takes you through mountain retreats and surfside homes, dreamy escapes she’s created by pulling inspiration from the surrounding property for a look that’s unique to each home. Through personal essays, you’ll learn how she set about the project, what challenges her team faced, and the materials she used to achieve the finished result. With more than 200 gorgeous images of livings rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, entryways, bedrooms, and baths, you'll have photographs of Amber’s details on hand when you're ready to create your own collection of stunning spaces—and call it home.

I loved Amber Lewis's first book, Made for Living, and used a lot of advice contained in that book to update my home. I preordered her second book and was thrilled when it finally arrived. The pictures are beautiful. The updated design aesthetic Ms. Lewis displays is warmer, cozier, more rustic and inviting than the cooler, more spacious designs from her previous (pre-2020) work. I like this book even better, probably because I prefer a warmer color palette to the cooler one that was in style 5 years ago. This book describes the thought process behind each design rather than the specific design tips regarding choices of paint color, finishes, styling "rules," and techniques used to incorporate vintage furniture, etc. This makes for a more interesting reading experience, however, I miss the specific recommendations of paint colors used in each room, especially since the colors seem to be very different than those listed in her previous book. Overall, I gave this book 5 stars because it is a stunning work of art by a very talented interior designer. I decided not to take away a star for the unfortunate decision to place white text on a light background (making a few of the pages in the book unreadable) because I feel this is the fault of the publisher rather than the book's author.
Great book for coffee table decor.
Perfect book for decorating a shelf or table
While the photos are beautiful and the book is full of wonderful suggestions, the big problem is the print technique. White lettering on a beige/grey page. Makes it very difficult to read.
Great coffee table book, use it for decor and have also have enjoyed the pictures. Received it on time was not damaged, goes great with my home decor
Another good design book from Amber Lewis … writing and photography are both excellent. I agree that the best design starts with the setting and the vibe you get BEFORE you start. I also like the mix of old and new decor and her color schemes (taupe/greige is my go-to basic!!!). If you agree, her design books are for you!
Hands down my favorite interior designer…I’ve been eagerly awaiting this new book by Amber Lewis and I would say this is some of her best work yet! Beautiful photography and designs on every page. What I am most impressed with is the amount of architectural detail that was added to these homes to infuse character and to make them look much older than they are. I love the earthy color palette and all of the wood, stone, and natural materials. The paired back warm tones used in many of these designs I find to be tasteful and elevated. This book is organized by project rather than by topic. I can't decide if I like this format better or not. The text doesn't tie together as well, but it's a much more cohesive look this way. There is still plenty of great advice just like in her first book, but the advice is heavily focused on the details (especially on materials used). She explains why these details are so important and gives them the attention they deserve, and really the photos are proof of this. I'm inspired for sure! Amber Lewis has an online store shoppe.amberinteriordesign.com with ideas of how you can bring her signature look into your own home. There's a variety of items at all different price points, so there's something for everyone. Some of her Loloi rugs are beautiful and very affordable!
Love the chocolate brown color, the photos in the book are spectacular, it's a great coffee table size book and provide excellent tips related to decor. For the price, it's a great book!
