What a great gift for a 19 year old who is living alone for the first time. The new coast guard had zero clue how to cook and told me how much he loves this book. Imagine that!! And he said his roommate, another new coast guard and who has never cooked, now borrows the book. The recipient was so happy he sent me a picture of his first breakfast made. Itlooked amazing. For his long weekends when he is stationed away, he packs meals prepped from the book because they are so easy. Highly recommended for a beginner who wants to cook healthy.
I was surprised this book arrived in such a small package. Turns out it's in a compact 6x6 format, thick, and it does NOT fold flat. Can't make any kind of an intelligent comment on the contents; if I could, I wouldn't need to buy a book. Prolly not a bad deal for $8, but in spite of it's apparent shortcomings, I won't return it. There are many simple recipes to try, so I suspect it will fulfill its mission of keeping me from starvation.
I bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas. She's 19 and living on her own, not a college student but I like that this cookbook uses limited ingredients and for the most part inexpensive ingredients. As I looked through the book before I gave it to her, It looked like it had some really good recipes. I think that it would be a great cookbook for a beginner cook or someone that just wanted some easy meals.
They really like it , I like the recipes too.
This one was a good choice. I tried a few. This had things my son could a would make. It had things I myself would like. Easy to follow. Common ingredients. Nice book for students.
I don't know how many total recipes are in this book, but as compact as it is (in size), there are a fair amount. I am FAR from being a traditional college student at age 50, but I love the simple recipes with simple (amount of) ingredients. NGL, I'm kinda lazy AND legit have ADHD so keeping things easy and streamlined is key in order for me to not short circuit my brain and body (be that with the actual cooking or shopping for too many ingredients, and obscure ones to boot). I've finally made it through my perusing stage of all then mains, appetizers, sides, desserts, etc. and tabbed a final selection of 100 recipes with posted notes. My goal is to try 5-ish a month cooking from scratch more. I'm in the midst of a weight loss countdown of 10 lbs and extra appreciate the included caloric breakdowns as well as the healthier slant of recipes. The recipes are pretty straightforward and should appeal to most everyone with the possible exception of super vegans and those annoying picky eaters. Beginner cooks of all ages will benefit from the concise cooking, prep, pantry, and cookware tips. Great standalone gift or accompanied with a store gift card, kitchen gift basket, or kitchen cooking appliance or set.
This was a gift for my granddaughter. She was so excited to get it. She will be leaving for college in August. It’s a perfect gift!
This cookbook is perfect for college students living on their own for the first time. The recipes have five main ingredients and then other staple ingredients that you should have in your cupboard. Simple and actually healthy too.!
