Great Book !!
This is a great book for anyone thinking about taking their shooting to the next level. Whether you are new to precision long range shooting or maybe you are already familiar with it and want to become better, this book will help you. Ryan's style of teaching is down to earth, easy to understand and apply immediately. As he states in the book, it's a beginner's guide and if you decide to continue in the sport you will want to study deeper, but this will get you started quickly.
Best beginner guide
I have read this book through once and am starting a second time as I’m getting closer to spending time and money on equipment. I have read 5 books on shooting and this is the best. His attitude about not trying to be perfect is refreshing. Skill will come with practice and experience. In the later chapters of the book he does give all the silly questions some attention, like how the earth spin affects the bullet and all the gee wis type things beginning shooters see in movies but are not sure how they apply. Remember if you are off 3” on paper at 100 yards then who cares if the bullet drops 2” when shooting 1,000 yards facing west. You are already going to miss by 3 feet so what is 2” really going to matter. Sorry that last bit was more of a me rant than an excerpt from the book. If you aren’t sure about buying this book then look on YouTube 3 episodes of “Warrior poet society” where Ryan Cleckner was a guest star. That gives a sample of what reading this book is like. Stay safe!
Great book if you're just getting started !
My experience with long range is none to limited, This book is for someone just starting out. The book is for you to understand the basics. It's just the beginning of the journey. The book includes information that will get you started in the understanding of process. I look forward to the second book. Basics matter! Get good at the basics and the rest will follow. Just like "Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast". I get the feeling some of the reviews just want to nitpick someone else's work. Great work ! I enjoyed the book and have learned a lot.
Entry level-medium
Keep in your range bag or read on the toilet. Skims some topics but goes into depth explaining some concepts. Goes over a lot of basics. Recommend for anyone getting into the game.

This book has been informative, and chaulked full of information. The contents of this book is very easy to understand, and apply. It is also full of web resources which just adds to the value of this book. This is hands down the most informative guide to long range precision shooting I've seen on the market. The book is well organized and easy to read and comprehend. I can easily flip to a section to find the information I'm looking for. The book is well organized and laid out in three sections 1) Equipment 2) Fundamentals 3) Application, and the author goes into details in each section from theory to real world application that's been tried and tested by the author himself in real life battle situations! Don't second guess it buy the book, you will be impressed and educated! Thanks Ryan!
Very good book
This is an excellent book full of information for a beginner who wants to have an understanding from the basics. If the reader already possess some previous knowledge would make easier reading and can probably bypass some of the very basic information. I bought this book because I wanted to learn how to properly use a high power scope before I take an intermediate long range shooting class.
Simple, thorough, helpful
I wanted a basic riflery book that was technical enough to thoroughly explain things but not get into physics of ballistics. This book is perfect. Written by someone who has thorough field experience (military), enough technical information to explain "..why?..." without losing me in the weeds, and an easy read. Great book for rifle beginners.
