You never fast if it makes you sick . . . See what you can handle. Always consult with a physician for any advice . . . disclaimer. The author, a doctor, lists foods and the hormones in each.... I will have to update this when I finish reading this book. (It was recommended to me by a customer reading it while waiting for her tires to be fixed at a garage. The library had the book listed in the catalogue but it was missing from the shelf... )

For content, this book gets a 10/10. I'm not kidding when I say everyone needs to know this information. There's not enough general knowledge about fasting and insulin resistance. If you're new to the topics, I think this is a perfect introductory book. Particularly if you're a woman (and if you're a man, you're going to learn a lot, and you should know it! don't be turned off by the title). Pelz goes into just enough physiologic detail to give you the meat, but stays approachable enough that you don't need a degree. The book contains relevant, understandable, and applicable information that will benefit any reader. I knew a lot of this going in and the book was still enlightening and enjoyable. I read and listened to it. The audiobook performance is good, but a bit slow. Highly recommended!
