I’m being forced to move in with my brother’s best friend. After my life falls apart, the last person I want to face is my childhood crush. Much less live with him.
Unfortunately for me, my overprotective brother and his equally overprotective best friend show up on my doorstep and don’t take no for an answer. I put up my best fight, but it’s no use. Soon enough, I’m boarding a plane with them and my newborn son.
All I want is to pick up the pieces of my life alone, but everywhere I turn it seems like Maverick Carter is there waiting to help. He makes it difficult to keep my distance, but I know I have to. Because he deserves so much better than me.
But He’s My Roommate is a single mom, brother’s best friend romantic comedy for readers who like to feel all the emotions. It’s a closed-door romance, with all the sizzling chemistry you love, minus the explicit scenes. It’s the final book in the But He’s a Carter Brother series, a series based around four strong, protective brothers finding love.
Living with your brother's best friend is always a recipe for chaos, especially when that friend is Blake Carter. With charm and mischief in equal measure, Blake has been a constant presence in Mia's life. Now, sharing an apartment in the bustling heart of the city, their playful bickering transforms into something neither expected.
But can their friendship survive the unpredictability of love?
Discover how friendship can lead to unexpected romance in the most delightful ways. Experience the humor and heartwarming story as two beloved characters navigate their feelings. Delve into the quaint world of the Carter Brothers where love and laughter are just a page away.
Mia never imagined living with her brother's best friend would turn her world upside down. Blake's magnetic personality has always been hard to ignore, but when their lives intertwine under one roof, the lines between friendship and something more blur unexpectedly. Surrounded by peculiar neighbors and daily mishaps, their apartment turns into a hotbed of hilarity and hidden emotions.
Both Mia and Blake try to maintain the status quo, concealing feelings beneath layers of sarcasm and friendly jabs. Yet, as they push each others' buttons, sparks fly, revealing deeper connections that have been simmering for years. Heartfelt moments are masked by banter, leading to hilarious situations that force Mia and Blake to confront their feelings head-on.
As confessions are made and unspoken truths are unveiled, their journey from roommates to potential partners becomes an emotional rollercoaster. While they navigate the complexity of growing feelings, their tight-knit circle of friends and family offers support, comic relief, and a curious eye for their budding romance. Amidst unexpected challenges and everyday life, Mia and Blake realize that going from friends to lovers requires vulnerability and trust.

The last Carter book. Ugh. Really a great conclusion to a fantastic series. This author has an amazing ability to write a tender story, with just enough sizzle that it makes you sigh. Maverick was so sweet and yet manly. My only complaint though is the lack of his career as a baker. That must be some staff.
I knew it. All the books in this series hinted at the happily ever after for Evie and Maverick. Poor Evie has had some pretty rough things happen to her. Maverick sweeps in like a knight in shining armor but allows her to process things on her schedule. He's really too good to be true. Kinda like all the Carter brothers: no flaws. Here is a thought: I was ready to see more of the bakery and eat more of the bread and other baked goods than I got to do in this book.
I am a new Annah Connell fan. I read the first book of the series and had to finish it out. I love the character development and how they each have their unique stories. I love series that the characters interweave together. The clean language and sweet content a win! I’m looking forward to reading more from Annah
3 Stars. 📷 The vibes - brother’s Best friend - Roommate - Closed door - Single mom 🥊 My thoughts: When new mother Evie is down on her luck with nowhere to turn, her brother and his best friend Maverick convince her to move in with Maverick until she can get her feet on the ground. 🥊 I love the Carter brothers so much. Their group chats and brotherly interactions continues to be a highlight for me. 🥊 I have nothing bad to say about sweet baby Maverick. I loved him. The scene of him at the grocery store telling the old lady to back up and not touch the baby - I laughed out loud. All of his boxing moments I loved. The scene where Maverick teaches Evie boxing!!! 🔥🥵 10/10. Annah writes some of the best “teach me” moments. 📷 While I loved Maverick, I struggled with Evie. She had a lot of self doubt (understandably so with her past); but it felt so repetitive at points that I just didn’t know what to do with our home girl other than lovingly recommend therapy. Her jealousy with MJ was especially hard to read. I do think it’s real life for a lot of people - but it was hard for me to love her at moments. 📷 I struggle when a character is upset someone didn’t chase them when they told them not to chase them. Evie gave these vibes for me for a lot of the book. 📷 But she had a moment that I loved - she described not being able to read during a season of her life: “Maybe now that it’s been a few months I’ll be able to read about love without it feeling like the wounds of my past are opening back up.” 🖤 This heavily resonated with me. I have had seasons of highs and very low lows where reading just hurt. It’s hard to describe but if you know, you know. And this moment that Evie had made me feel the feels. 🖤 Overall- the pacing was a little bit of a struggle for me- slow at first then speedy fast at the end. The plot of this book was cute though it felt unrealistic for me at moments (ie. the healing journey for Evie or the way Maverick rarely had to go to work). I felt like Evie needed a little bit more of a journey through all her issues- but I think this was still a cute romance that many will enjoy. If you’ve read all the previous books in this series- you’ll love seeing the siblings in this one. Thank you so much to Annah Conwell for the gifted copy.
Maverick and Evie are so sweet and swoony! The build up to their book throughout the series payed off immensely. Evie's story was heart wrenching and I loved her healing journey. Not to mention Beckham was adorable. Maverick is the big old Teddie bear we all knew he was and I loved seeing every second of that. The Carter family and the other cameos really brought an added depth to the story and I thoroughly enjoyed all of their moments and pieces of wisdom. Especially Grayson's lines 🤣. Very sweet and a perfect way to end the series 💋Descriptive Makeouts (one mention of tongue) ⚠️Single mom, Maverick lost his mom to cancer, divorce and manipulative Ex
Annah Conwell knows romcom. She’s probably my favorite clean romcom author. I make sure to read her books on release day. This was a feel good book with lovable, well rounded characters, a sweet love story, and fun details that rounded out the narrative. It was nice to read a story where both the MCs knew their hearts, and just had to find their way to each other. I’m in love with all the Carter brothers — these guys know how to treat their ladies! One of the best parts is to see favorite characters from previous books make appearances later on in the series. The ending of this book wraps up all their stories and I love that Annah did that for us fans. She’s written bonus chapters too, for those who sign up for her newsletters, with glimpses into the characters’ future lives — still swoonworthy, but realistic too! Can’t wait for The Run Option in December!
Awwww maverick and evie were perfect for each other! Love that mav has always been her safe place and he gets her to trust her self and him again. Loved the Beckham moments so cute. Perfect ending to the Carter’s.
But He’s My Roommate is a story of emotional healing & struggle & the hope that comes with a family that will be with you every step of the way💛 Annah is one of the most hardworking, kindest, humblest ppl I know & her love of these characters & the love she has for her readers bleed through the pages💖 Her writing is stunning, her characters feel so real that it’s like being home snuggled in a warm blanket the moment you open the book✨ Mav & Evie’s story touched me, Mav’s steadiness and tenderness towards Evie who is going through tons of blockades in her own life was simply everything💖 The romance hit as always, the banter was top notch and the glimpses we get of all of the past couples and family moments made me bawl🌻 Annah gave the perfect send off to these characters & I will continue to say that The Carters are my favorites ever, this is not goodbye it’s simply a see you later🌻💛
