My new AP Stylebook just arrived -- can't wait to comb through it!
I’m happy AP has extended the years to two instead of one. I’ve bought the AP every year since undergrad. You need it to write well-written news articles for the paper. I wish they would add a magazine or feature section. Does newspaper writing (hard news) also work for feature writing? I doubt it. Please expand.
This book is the standard for journalism writing and is all encompassing. It can be a little overwhelming but the Associated Press does a good job of making the excess of information usable. There are many things that are not really where you might think to look for them but the AP has a lot of helpful shortcuts, such as how to write dates. Look up dates and the book indicates that you should go see “years or months.” The downside? Amazon, your care in product packaging has again failed me, but I’m actually getting used to it. It’s starting to feel like Stockholm syndrome. So my brand new book came complete with a torn cover. Maybe it’s not a huge tear, but it’s a brand new book torn before I ever put my hands on it. I feel as if I accidentally tore my payment and it got to Amazon as an incomplete amount, they might be dissatisfied and I might not have even gotten the book from them. This feels like a one sided relationship, Amazon. This might not be as bad as the time you shipped me a glass measuring cup in a paper envelope/mailer, but it’s obvious that your care about quality service has remained as low as ever. I need to start using the book right away so I’m not inclined to return it at this time, much to my wife’s chagrin, but I think it would be swell if you tried to do the right thing by your customer and maybe refund me the $5 difference between the new book I ordered and the used like condition my book showed up in. That would be just swell, Mr. Bezos. What do you say? You return part of my money, consider it a proportionally torn payment, and I live with a piece of scotch tape on my book cover.
The latest AP Style Guide is a must-have for anyone serious about clear and professional online communication. It provides comprehensive, up-to-date standards that are perfect for navigating the fast-paced digital world. A valuable resource for keyboard warriors aiming for precision and impact in their writing.
Excellent and comprehensive, wish I had gotten the online version, maybe next time.
Much more than a grammar guide, the AP style book teaches you how to properly use abbreviations, titles, acronyms, and attributions. Besides that, it’s full of interesting information and background data. It’s critically important for formal writing. But also fun and entertaining for any writer or researcher.
If your are taking a journalism course this book will help you write your paper or quiz in AP style because everything need to be done in Ap style in all your courses.
