A rogue nuclear Russian submarine is steaming toward the East Coast of the United States. For President Jack Ryan, memories of past events may seem stunningly vivid, but the dangers are terrifyingly real in the latest entry in this #1 New York Times bestselling series. Now, President Jack Ryan finds himself with fleets of ships, squadrons of jets, and teams of SEALs at his command, but what he doesn’t have is insight into the plans of the Belgorod’s commander.
It falls to a younger generation of Ryans to do the dangerous work that will reveal that information. But there’s always a price to be paid. When the final moments tick away, will Jack Ryan have to choose between the safety of his country and the safety of his child?

What a great follow on story to The Hunt for Red October. One of my favorite stories and movie “Red October” now has a sequel. Great read. I couldn’t put it down and truly hope they make a movie of this story.
I havent read a Jack Ryan Sr book in a few years. But when I saw it and glanced at the first few pages and saw Red October mentioned, I knew this was one I had to read. Red October was one of my favorite ‘old’ Clancy books and this book lived totally up to its standards. A mesh of the past into the current world of submarines with Katie Ryan being the spitting image of her ‘old’ young dad in Red October. I loved the banter, the America vs Russia old mentality, Ryan Sr doing what he does best and Lt Katie being the intelligence agent putting all the dots in place. Brilliant story, excellent writing. Well done,
In Clancy fashion, this novel is quite believable and suspenseful throughout. Makes one proud to be an American during these times.
This book mixes the best of history and mystery! It strikes an entertaining balance of nostalgia and current events. What a fantastic idea for a story, especially for Jack Ryan fans from way back like myself! And it is eerie how the current world we are living in provided the perfect backdrop in which to tell it. I was reading this on the day someone tried to assassinate our former president! Ryan stories are always unputdownable, while also being a stark reminder that the world we live in is beautiful but dangerous, and freedom is never free and must be defended. I love the way the Ryan family continues to thrive and serve and endure, just like America. Just like Americans. I like to think of the men and women in these books as being stand-ins for the real people out there doing the work to ensure there is still an America to protect. The author really outdid himself with this book and I absolutely loved it. I am a fan!
Interesting story about possible conflict between USA and Russia with lots of submarine information. Writing is fair and a bit more technical than I was interested in. However, I did enjoy the story.
Great submarine book. Well written, wonderful thriller! Tom Clancy would be proud. Author weaved in all my favorite characters and their pasts as well as bringing Katie in as the new Jack Ryan sr. Look forward to next book in December!
Fast and intense. A book well written, suspenseful and full of twists. Although fiction in intent, could very well be past or future facts. Read and enjoy!
This is the latest of the Jack Ryan stories that expands his story with that of one of his children. Unlike the Jack Jr, this one follows one of the younger children, Katie. The story brings back memories of "Hunt for Red October." The plot is ok, not great but easy to follow. The writing is easy to get into and you can identify with the main characters. Having read all of the primary Clancy novels, this is a good addition to the library.
