About This Book

An accessible and reassuring guide to childhood health and immunity from a pediatrician who's both knowledgeable about the latest scientific research and respectful of a family's risk factors, health history, and concerns In The Vaccine-Friendly Plan, Paul Thomas, M.D., presents his proven approach to building immunity: a new protocol that limits a child's exposure to aluminum, mercury, and other neurotoxins while building overall good health. Based on the results from his pediatric practice of more than eleven thousand children, as well as data from other credible and scientifically minded medical doctors, Dr. Paul's vaccine-friendly protocol gives readers - recommendations for a healthy pregnancy and childbirth - vital information about what to expect at every well child visit from birth through adolescence - a slower, evidence-based vaccine schedule that calls for only one aluminum-containing shot at a time - important questions to ask about your child's first few weeks, first years, and beyond - advice about how to talk to health care providers when you have concerns - the risks associated with opting out of vaccinations - a practical approach to common illnesses throughout the school years - simple tips and tricks for healthy eating and toxin-free living at any age The Vaccine-Friendly Plan presents a new standard for pediatric care, giving parents peace of mind in raising happy, healthy children.

Praise for The Vaccine-Friendly Plan "Finally, a book about vaccines that respects parents! If you choose only one book to read on the topic, read The Vaccine-Friendly Plan . This impeccably researched, well-balanced book puts you in the driver's seat and empowers you to make conscientious vaccine decisions for your family." --Peggy O'Mara, editor and publisher, Mothering Magazine "Sure to appeal to readers of all kinds as a friendly, no-nonsense book that cuts through the rhetoric surrounding vaccines.

It offers validation to those who avoid some or all, while offering those who do want to vaccinate help on how to do so safely. This is a great book for anyone with children in their lives." -- Natural Mother "A valuable, science-supported guide to optimizing your child's health while you navigate through complex choices in a toxic, challenging world." --Martha Herbert, M.D., Ph.D., Harvard Medical School "An impressively researched guide, this important book is essential reading for parents. With clear and practical advice for shielding children from harmful toxins, it will compel us all to think differently about how to protect health." --Jay Gordon, M.D., FAAP "Rather than a one-size-fits-all vaccine strategy, the authors suggest thoughtful, individualized decisions based on research and collaboration between parents and clinicians--a plan to optimize a child's immune system and minimize any risks." --Elizabeth Mumper, M.D., founder and CEO, The Rimland Center for Integrative Pediatrics "This well-written and thought-provoking book will encourage parents to think through decisions--such as food choices and the timing of vaccines--that affect the well-being of their children.

In a world where children's immune systems are increasingly challenged, this is a timely addition to the literature." --Harriet Lerner, Ph.D., bestselling author of The Dance of Anger and The Mother Dance

I am now a grandmother, and prior to the internet, we had a few books on child care and health, but most people just trusted whatever the doctor said and didn't question it. Things were different by the time our oldest daughter was having her first child, and she (and her husband) wanted to be well educated in order to make wise decisions for the healthcare for their children. The internet had a wealth of information and I started reading myself and began to realize that not everything recommended for children was actually necessary and could even be potentially harmful. A lot of things have a financial incentive to be recommended, and I would urge parents to be very careful and not just blindly trust schedules. The Vaccine-Friendly Plan is very helpful to parents in understanding the benefits or risks and to make an educated decision on what they allow to be put in their children's bodies. I often give this excellent and essential book as part of a baby shower gift for first time moms.

I loved this book - I felt it really gave me some insight and helped me make informed decisions about my child’s vaccine schedule. We did ultimately choose to follow this plan and it was popular enough that our pediatrician was onboard with it as well.

This book was everything I hoped it would be, and so much more!

I just finished reading this whole book, and I'd give it more than five stars if that were an option. As a mom of two young boys, I wish this book had been published when I was pregnant with my first son, because I would have done so much differently. It's not just another book on vaccines. While it has incredible information about vaccines and his take on childhood vaccine schedule in this country, it is so much more than a book about vaccinations. In fact, even if someone decides to fully vaccinate after reading this book (which would surprise me), they're still going to learn a ton to help their child (and themselves) lead a healthier life if they follow even an ounce of the advice Dr. Paul Thomas and Jennifer Margulis provide in this book. I originally wanted to read this because I wanted to hear more about vaccines. I don't blindly follow the CDC schedule. After much research, I evaluate each vaccine separately, delay some, and reject some all together, so I thought this book would provide me even further direction with that. And it didn't let me down! I had read The Vaccine Book, but this book was SO much more helpful since it's a comprehensive book that discusses individual vaccinations in depth, but also a child's immunity, health, well-being, and happiness. Every pediatrician and future pediatrician should read this. For example, it makes sense that Dr. Paul Thomas recommends getting your child's titers checked with a blood test before kindergarten instead of giving a second dose of the MMR vaccine. 98% of his patients showed immunity to measles when their blood was tested, so they didn't need a second dose. Why inject someone with more toxins when not needed, especially when a titer test showing immunity is accepted for school entry. If you're the type that likes to read the "What to Expect..." series books (What to Expect the First Year, Toddler Years, etc.), you'll find that this book includes everything you'd read in those books and more. The book has sections on everything from breastfeeding to infant milestones, ideas to help your child eat healthy, and the importance of play. And while I don't yet have teenagers, I love that he wrote a whole section on what doctors talk about with teenagers when their parents are out of the room. I'll definitely be referring to this book for many years to come! I also felt like I got to be a fly on the wall during pediatrician appointments. Pediatricians do so much more than I ever imagined, and I now have even more respect for anyone in that profession! After I started reading it, I bought two extra copies and gave them away to friends. I'll be buying a few more in the next several weeks and giving them away as well. It's an invaluable resource, an easy read, an enjoyable read, and I'll go so far as to say it's probably the most useful and important book I've bought in my life. Buy it and read it. You won't be disappointed!

It's a good read to understand the arguments surrounding a sensitive topic.

I recently had the opportunity to read The Vaccine-Friendly Plan by Dr. Paul Thomas, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me as a parent navigating the complex world of vaccinations. Dr. Paul's approach is refreshing, well-researched, and deeply compassionate, providing an alternative perspective on vaccination that is both informative and empowering. First and foremost, what sets this book apart is its emphasis on personalized, informed decision-making when it comes to vaccines. Dr. Paul acknowledges that every child is unique, with different health needs and susceptibilities, and his approach reflects this understanding. Instead of adopting a one-size-fits-all mentality, he advocates for a customized vaccination plan that takes into account a child's individual health history, family medical history, and risk factors. One of the most compelling aspects of The Vaccine-Friendly Plan is Dr. Paul's thorough exploration of vaccine ingredients and potential side effects. He delves into the science behind vaccines, offering clear explanations of how they work and what risks they may pose. By presenting this information in an accessible manner, he empowers parents to make informed decisions about their child's health, rather than simply relying on blanket recommendations. Dr. Paul provides practical guidance on how to implement a vaccine-friendly approach in partnership with healthcare providers. He offers valuable tips on how to communicate effectively with doctors, advocate for your child's health needs, and navigate the sometimes challenging conversations surrounding vaccination. What I appreciate most about this book is its balanced and evidence-based approach. Dr. Paul doesn't advocate for blanket vaccine refusal; rather, he encourages thoughtful consideration of each vaccine and its potential risks and benefits. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining an open dialogue with healthcare providers and making decisions based on the best available evidence. The Vaccine-Friendly Plan is a must-read for any parent who wants to take a proactive and informed approach to their child's health. Dr. Paul's compassionate guidance, thorough research, and practical advice make this book an invaluable resource for navigating the complex world of vaccinations. I wholeheartedly recommend it to parents who are seeking a well-rounded perspective on this important topic.

I LOVE this book so far. I’m not done with it but it’s already blown my mind. I take everything with a grain of salt in what I read in life, especially when it comes to my health and my babies health. There’s a lot of good information in this book and it seems pretty unbiased to me. Clear and concise. Whether you are pro vax, anti vax, or somewhere in between, this book is great! Highly recommend
