Wow, this book was really good. I’m not much of a reader but have been trying to get into it. This one is a page turner. However, I did pause in reading it for a few months because of some topic I just didn’t not like, but finally I picked it back up and finished it. There were so many twists and turn, especially the ending!!! It’s definitely a must read but proceed with caution.

A very poetic story….

Hmmm….I struggled with the rating for this one. It’s more of a 3-3.5 ⭐️ however it’s the ending that cinched it a little more for me. This book is a page turner. There are three main characters: Addie - 16 yr old student, Eve Bennett - HS math teacher married to Nate Bennett - HS English teacher whose also involved in the school newspaper and poetry magazine. Addie is a extremely unpopular girl. She’s evidently very plain and once again has “mud” colored eyes and hair. Frieda uses that description of her characters features in most of the books I’ve read. Then there are the two married teachers who couldn’t be more different, more unhappy together and it seems that one is waiting for the other to ask for a divorce. But one of them seeks pleasure outside the home, the other is having their cake and eating it too by setting up their chance at freedom by tricking someone else to take the fall. It’s definitely worth the read.

Great book but….

So the book has plenty of suspense and twists as to be expected from a Freida book. Now I knew going into this book it was a scandal involving a student and teacher which is the whole plot, but I had some ick moments that kinda disturbed me. I did enjoy the book and although I found the twist early on the big ones at the end caught me off guard! Addie kinda annoyed me with some things she did that absolutely made no sense at all, I won’t go into details but she is definitely reckless and did a few stupid things that seriously made no sense or had a purpose in the story. Eve also annoyed me because as a grown woman and a professional, she seemed extremely naive and oblivious but maybe that was the whole point. Nate is your typical narcissist, psychotic character. Overall, I did enjoy the book and finished it in 2 days but it wasn’t my favorite. Definitely worth the read as it’s quick and has plenty of twists!

Yep! I'm totally hooked on F McFadden. It was a fascinating read. I felt every emotion the characters had. I never saw the ending coming AT ALL . I read the House maid series and I wanted more. I think this is one of the best psychological thrillers I have ever read and I can't wait to see what else she has written just for me!!!

*****SPOILERS****** I feel a little torn over this book. While the writing was great, and the twists really surprising, it was hard to cheer on the characters. I love a character that you just love to hate, but with this subject matter, I found it difficult to get behind any of them. There are obvious issues of grooming between Nate, Addie and Eve. I found it hard to believe that Eve didn't know who Jay was. How a 16 year old could pass as a married, 30 something man is confusing. There is also the point where the author brings up that Hudson is excellent with math and lousy with English. That statement felt very intentional. In the end, the story was entertaining albeit a little confusing with the timeline of the ending, but the final twist...wow. I don't approve of any of these characters actions or behaviors no matter what a state deems as legal age. I think that the story was well told and had me hurrying to find out the ending.

Freida McFadden has done it again with "The Teacher," a gripping psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. This book is an instant #1 New York Times bestseller for a reason—it's absolutely riveting! The story centers around Eve, a seemingly ordinary math teacher at Caseham High. Her life appears perfect, but last year's scandal involving a student-teacher affair still haunts the school. The scandal's central figure, Addie, is a complex character shrouded in mystery and deceit. As rumors swirl, Eve uncovers dark secrets that challenge everything she thought she knew. One of the standout aspects of this book is the multiple POVs. McFadden masterfully captures the distinct personalities and quirks of each character, making the narrative rich and immersive. The different perspectives add depth and complexity to the story, enhancing the suspense and making the twists even more shocking. Speaking of twists, McFadden delivers them in spades. Just when you think you've figured everything out, she pulls the rug out from under you with a bigger twist that leaves you reeling. The plot turn in the epilogue is particularly mind-blowing and unexpected, a hallmark of McFadden's storytelling prowess. It's worth mentioning that the beginning is a bit slow, but stick with it. The buildup is essential for the explosive revelations that follow. The pacing picks up significantly, and you won't be able to put the book down as the tension escalates. However, this book does come with trigger warnings for themes of adult-adolescent relationships and violence. These elements are handled with sensitivity, but they are integral to the story's darker undertones. If these themes are overwhelming for you, consider this before diving in. In conclusion, "The Teacher" is a phenomenal read that showcases Freida McFadden's talent for crafting psychological thrillers. The ending is jaw-dropping, and the entire book is a testament to her skill in creating unforgettable narratives. If you're a fan of thrillers, this book should be at the top of your reading list. I highly recommend "The Teacher" and look forward to hearing your thoughts once you've experienced this wild ride!
