Our kids are grown and flown but issues still come up. This book is great information but we wish we would have had it a few years sooner to get the most timely info from it! Probably the smartest thing my son ever said to me, “stay in your lane, Mom”. Hard to hear but it was what I needed. This book teaches a lot of learning how to do that - which is necessary for healthy relationships whether we like it or not!

Excellent Book

Never anticipated needing such a read but in this day and age I found it a great support and affirmation for being a parent of adult children. A friend recommended it, she definitely nailed this read. It is hard to let go and deal with the empty nest syndrome even if you aren’t a helicopter parent. This book explains what we moms all need to hear and know but often allow that inner “save the day” or add our opinion when it’s not always welcomed. I highly recommend this book.

This book does a good job reminding parents that their longtime parenting goal has been to train up and release children into independence, and now to finalize that launch by accepting your new job description as the friend of an adult. This book gives good principles toward releasing adult children into independence and reminds parents to let go of their earlier levels of having a vote and voice over a child. Missing or avoided is how to speak the truth in love and then let that message be marked as completed in the parents' minds. Skipping this vital piece, the book's good focus is on keeping the mouth shut and keeping the relationship open, while speaking love without words through availability. A great addition would be to keep PACE through Prayer, Availability, Contact, and Example, and how to speak the truth in love ONCE as a brother and sister in Christ and leaving the choice and ownership with the adult child. This difficult but vital piece is missing or avoided in this book. My wife and I were also hoping for more practical advice than what was offered here, but we appreciated the good principles that are taught.

Great book.

Wow, this book is filled with both skillful and Godly wisdom. It is easy to understand and put into practice the concepts for doing life with adult children. Our family is already doing many of the things mentioned, and it was so good to receive confirmation that we are doing things well. I learned many things I can tweak in my relationships with my daughters and granddaughters. This is a highly valuable resource and I certainly recommend every parent to read this book. Thank you to the author for sharing these tools and wisdom.
