Some of the earlier math chapters had good clear explanations but they were less rigorous than what I saw in Kaplan’s prep book. The advanced math chapter in this books was a major let down. The explanation given for several questions was just to plug all the answer choices into the equation instead of teaching how to solve it.
Exactly what my daughter needed to study.
My daughter will take the PSAT/NMSQT this fall and she needed a guide to help her prepare over summer. As another reviewer has stated, there isn't much out there yet for preparing for the digital test, so when I saw this I ordered it. It has a few practice tests that try to simulate the digital format. I would recommend to anyone looking for a preparation manual.
Helped my daughter bump her psat score 150 points! Highly recommend.
My son used this book although he didn’t utilize all the tools, it was exactly like the online test and it helped immensely. I plan on getting another one for my other son this summer Highly recommend!
My son used this in the weeks leading up to his PSAT test and told me that it was a major reason why he scored so well. The questions were similar to those on the test, and the practice tests were a good way to prepare him and train endurance 👍🏻
The book does a good job of instructing students on how to learn to take the test vs. learning content. The book comes with ample practice exams that have answers and explanations which walk through why each answer choice is correct and wrong which is more helpful than just plain answers.
My daughter will take the 2023 PSAT/NMSQT, which will be administered digitally for the first time, so I've been searching for an appropriate study book. Unfortunately there are very few study books that have been updated for the Digital PSAT (or Digital SAT). I've purchased pretty much all available. This book is the best of that lot. This book's two practice tests have been completely updated for the Digital PSAT, including having both easy and difficult second modules. I've compared them against the one Digital PSAT practice exam now available from the College Board, and they are very similar. All other books' practice tests are lower fidelity. The review chapters of this book have also been completely updated for the Digital PSAT; one other book's review chapters haven't been been updated at all (the Reading-Writing part of the Digital PSAT is much different from before). The major minus of this book is that, despite what the book says, a digital testing app that contains this book's updated practice tests in digital form is not yet available, so you'll need to take them using paper. I guess you can utilize the College Board's free practice test app to simulate that aspect of the Digital PSAT. 13Aug2023 Edit - The Princeton Review's Digital Testing App is now available. I tried it, it simulates the College Board's very well. Now giving this book 5 stars.
