Everything going on in this fallen world is discussed in this excellent read. I'm feeling incredibly connected to the message presented in the Eclipse of God.

Ambitious and somewhat repetitious but worth a read

I have read much of Lutzer over the years. This book is somewhat similar to his previous two books on American culture but worth a read for the updated information. There are also some chapters that have information from previous books which he noted at the end of each of those chapters. It is ambitious and articulate but does have a lot of theological discussion that will appeal mostly to evangelicals due to language evangelicals use. Perhaps the evangelicals are his target group. I found the best chapter was the one on returning to the God of creation (chapter 8) where gender issues were discussed. Chapter 11 where he reviewed the Church under Hitler and current trends was also very interesting. For me Lutzer is probably the most informed and articulate evangelical writing today. I gave this four stars as the book could have been reduced to be more concise (275 pages before Notes and comprehensive) when it comes to theological discussion. But it is definitely worth a read for the support of his thesis, which is a new god is rising in the psyche of the American culture and that god is not the God of the Bible.

Wow!! Great book!

I saw the author interviewed and I immediately ordered this book. It is a wonderful book on what’s happening to America and other nations. Best book yet that I purchased on current events and why.

A strong call to the church to stand for truth in a hostile environment.

Pastor Lutzer helps us to understand how things have so drastically deteriorated in our country and culture but then he challenges and helps believers to repent and do something about it. He asks these probing questions: “What price are we willing to pay to do the right thing? And to declare the right message? And to live for God’s glory and not our own?” At the end of each chapter he suggests and action step. The eclipse of the God of the Bible is very real and Lutzer reminds us: “Remember, when God is evicted out of the consciousness of a person or nation, demonize darkness rushes in—and this darkness has no boundaries, no limits, and no restraints. This book is a must read for concerned believers.
