The following review applies to several books, and I intend to copy and paste this review for each book. It has been a banner year for being introduced to hall-of-fame caliber books. The following list is chronological, the order in which I read the books or are reading the books. All these books are life changing. I’m not the only one who feels this way. Check out the Amazon (average rating, number of ratings for each book, as of March 29, 2024). The Men We Need by Brant Hansen (4.9/799). I bought this book for my 18yr old son, and HE READ IT (Wow!) The Reason For God by Tim Keller (4.7/5898) Your Path of Best Existence by Glenn Wollman (4.9/59) The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren (4.8/15823) God in my Everything by Ken Shegematsu (4.7/366) Facing the Mountain by Daniel James Brown (4.7/ 3454) Obviously these books have a Christian slant, but Wollman’s book is about healthy living, totally secular, and Brown’s book is a history book, regarding the heroism of Japanese Americans during World War II. Simply put, buy them, read them, you’ll be glad you did. The following review applies to several books, and I intend to copy and paste this review for each book. My son really enjoyed the book
This book was a great reminder that life on earth is about service to god. I highly recommend it for anyone who is new to faith, or getting back into faith. Parts of the book seemed a bit pushy. The part on going on a mission trip… I think there are many ways to serve and even go on a mission for god in your own city if you feel more called to do that. There are so many people who need to be touched right here that I don’t feel the call to the ends of the earth. Not sure if that makes sense - just a rambling on the one thing that rubbed me the wrong way. Mostly it was a great book and has helped me become a better servant.
I’ve had the old version and my mom had the old Spanish version. It’s really good, actually. So I wanted to get the new version. Also, I got the Hard cover which is on sale on Amazon right now for $16.49. Great price to be honest, with hard cover it protects the book. In the beginning, I was about to get the paper which is $7.67. It’s a great deal as well. But there comments how it comes damage or something. I like to take care of my books. Accidents happens, but at least protect it. Overall, it’s awesome!
This is a very good book. I highly recommend. The book mentions different perspectives and also use scripture references to support his book. I’m so glad I purchased this book
I ordered this book because we are going through each chapter in Bible study at my church. I am enjoying a deep dive into Pastor Rick’s ideas and reading the scripture associated. This book is written in easy to understand language. It simply encourages the reader to draw closer to God and understand He made us to love us. I would recommend.
Rick Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life" is a spiritual guide that encourages readers to explore their purpose in life from a Christian perspective. The book is divided into 40 short chapters, each designed to be read over a span of 40 days, allowing readers to reflect deeply on each topic. One of the strengths of the book is its clarity and simplicity in presenting profound spiritual truths. Warren emphasizes that everyone has a purpose in life, which is ultimately found in a personal relationship with God. He outlines five key purposes: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and mission, providing a structured framework for readers to understand and fulfill their God-given purposes. Warren's writing is both practical and inspirational, offering practical advice on how to live a purpose-driven life amidst life's challenges and distractions. He addresses common questions about identity, significance, and eternity, grounding his insights in Biblical teachings. Critically, some readers may find the book's focus on Christianity limiting if they are seeking a more broadly spiritual or secular perspective on purpose. Additionally, while the book resonates deeply with many readers, its approach may not appeal to everyone, especially those from different religious or philosophical backgrounds. Overall, "The Purpose Driven Life" is a timeless and impactful book that continues to guide readers towards a deeper understanding of their purpose and a closer relationship with God. It's recommended for anyone seeking spiritual growth and clarity in their life's direction.
I highly recommend this read. My wife and I followed the 40 day plan. I am re-reading the entire book as a detailed study now. There is a very good reason why this self help Christian book is a best seller. The author focuses on our relationship with God and helps the reader to understand God's purposes for our lives. I found every chapter captivating and inspirational. The book is evangelical and takes difficult to follow biblical concepts more understandable.
