While I'm not intopumkin spice myself, I do enjoy a good love story and this one was exactly what I enjoy in a good romance. It had great main characters with sizzling chemistry that wasn't just sexual. The supporting characters were well defined and wonderful additions to the overall story. And there was a wonderful lack of gut wrenching angst. Logan and Jeanie were a great pair and I loved their playful and often steamy interludes but at times, I wanted to punch then both because they seemed to get in their own way too much. Logan had been burned by a previous relationship that the whole town witnessed. So naturally he was reserved. And Jeanie suffocated herself over the pressure not to hurt the towns beloved hero and therefore got in her way as well. The back and forth with these two going from hot and heavy one minute to ice cold over their fears had a tendency to be too much. While it did keep me on the hook wanting desperately to see them get it together, it was also quite maddening. Still, this book was highly enjoyable and kept me engaged throughout. I also wouldn't mind reading the following books in this small town series. This book does contain graphic descriptions of sex and mild swearing, which I usually turn away from, but in this case it wasn't enough to turn me off from it.
I now see what all the hoopla over this book was about. This is such a charming, feel good read. The characters were so well developed, I especially loved the Jeanie and Logan's budding romance. Favorite lines: Chickens made sense. Chickens didn't pretend they loved you until you proposed in front of the whole damn town at the annual Christmas tree lighting and then suddenly changed their mind. "I promise the next time you puke you can call me, okay?" I'll clean it up. I deal with all sorts of gross farm emergencies every day. You haven't seen anything until you've had an alpaca spit on you."
This love story was cute! I liked the added mystery of “who did it”to the cafe among the growing love between the two characters. A nice fall weekend read.
I LOVED this book! It's got your small town romance, mystery, fall setting, and SPICE! I love a book with spicy bits in it! This was by far my favorite read! Now onto the next book!
This is the perfect fall read. Lots of New England charm and idealistic dream small town filled with quirky people, but just enough single hotties. Jeanie is a nervous wreck with high anxiety running away from her big city non-life in Boston to operate her aunt’s coffee shop, but meeting Logan with a baseball bat may have not been the smartest move on her part. This is grump/sunshine, cozy but steamy romance, small town hijinks, cozy mystery (not a murder), hilarious townsfolk, and lots of hilarious animal names. Cute read, will probably continue the series.
Really cute book. Some of the pacing wasn’t my favorite (give me a slow burn friends to lovers and less of a love bombing after a week of being together) and I like ever so slightly more angst than the bad guy just coming out and admitting being the bad guy but as a whole it was a really cute, easy fall read
This contemporary romance is a sweet autumn-themed slow-burn story. I love the book's small-town, midlife, and grumpy/sunshine tropes. The book was lighthearted, with a little mystery and some very lovable characters. Jeanie and Logan have some sizzling intimacy as they go from acquaintances to lovers and embrace their relationship. The autumn vibes were cozy and nostalgic. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author. Jeanie is beginning her new life in Dream Harbor. Thanks to her aunt's retirement ideas, she is now the owner of The Pumpkin Spice Cafe. Logan, the local farmer and produce delivery driver, is quiet and introverted. Although the small town seems quirky and fun, he also has a hero complex. The book club and townsfolk in this story are a hoot. Maybe I should take notes on what to read next. I like that this is a slow burn, with Jeanie and Logan getting to know each other before anything happens. The book is predictable but a sweet read. I like Logan and his protective nature. Jeanie is a hot mess but entertaining. Their chemistry is off the charts, and the autumn vibes in the book are cozy, like a warm sweater. I love the not-so-secret relationship and, of course, the little bit of mystery in the storyline. Between the autumn festival, the farm and all its earthy descriptions, and pumpkins, apples, and costumes, what's not to love about the autumn vibes in this book? The acquaintance to lovers does get steamy, but it is a sweet intimacy. I love how the characters stay true to their personalities even in the throes of passion. They border between steamy encounters and sizzling intimacy. The found family in the book is so heartwarming. Oh, did you catch the set-up for future book characters? This book ends sweetly with the found family and small-town charms.
If you’re in the mood for a cozy read that feels like a warm holiday movie, The Pumpkin Spice Cafe is a perfect pick! This sweet fall romance has just the right vibe—charming without being obnoxiously cheesy. The main character is super relatable, and I found myself really connecting with her, even though we’re nothing alike. The side characters are also well-developed, making it easy to keep track of everyone in this small-town setting. I loved how the plot wrapped up nicely, leaving no loose ends, which is such a nice change of pace. Plus, the way the author weaves in references to earlier events makes the characters conversations feel natural and real. Overall, I definitely recommend The Pumpkin Spice Cafe if you’re looking for a light-hearted romance. It is pretty mild on the steamy scenes, this is a feel good story not a smut story.
