Kennedy I’m the only woman on staff for the Windy City Warriors, and after years of putting up with a sexist lead doctor, I’m desperate to land my dream job with a new team next year. All I have to do is maintain my professional reputation for my final season in Chicago. But a Las Vegas run-in with the team’s shortstop threatens it all, leaving me with a fuzzy memory and a ring on my left hand.
Now, not only am I legally bound to the most persistent man I’ve ever met, but thanks to Isaiah’s scheme to save my job, I have to pretend the whole thing was a planned elopement and not a drunken mistake. Isaiah Rhodes is reckless, impulsive, and frustratingly charming. He’s also my brand-new husband.
They got the saying wrong. What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas… sometimes it follows you right back home. Isaiah As the shortstop for Chicago’s professional baseball team, I’ve had my fair share of fun.
But that all ended the day Kennedy Kay became a single woman. I’ve crushed on the team’s athletic trainer for years. I’ve flirted to no avail, so imagine my surprise when I woke up in Sin City with a ring on my finger and my favorite redhead in my bed.
We agree to stay married for one baseball season, just long enough to keep her job safe, but in my mind, I’m using our time together to prove to her I’m husband material. Kennedy might be reluctant to join in on our game, but it’s one I refuse to lose. So come on, wife… play along.

This book was super sweet, a he fell first and harder type of romance. It was super well written and while mostly predictable it still made me laugh, smile, and cry. I LOVED the teach me and play along aspect it made the whole story slightly more enjoyable. I will say the family dynamics were a bit hard to keep track of, I would’ve loved some sort of family tree illustration and or just how they’re all connected. But over all it was such a cute story and very interesting to read. Kennedy Kay coming out of her shell was nice but I do wish we had some sort of reflection from her on how the whole physical touch insecurity of hers comes and goes and is really only comfortable with her immediate family. I LOVE that she’s an MD and she ended up being the first female MD for the warriors. I have high hopes for Rio and dare i hope to say Reese’s book!? LOVE Kennedy and Deans relationship tbh I wish we saw more of that it reminded me of mine and my little brothers. Isaiah Rhodes man oh man is he a puppy dog. We love a green flag man and Isaiah is the greenest green you’d ever seen. He’s thoughtful and considerate and funny and he plays baseball and HAS to be hot asf. He’s an Uncle to Maxy boy and again I love that they all call him Bug. I love Isaiah’s realization that he has Kenny and she and he aren’t going anywhere it makes my heart all warm and happy. ps i love Kai still he’s my favorite 🥹
Play Along was actual perfection. I LIVE LAUGH LOVED IT. I don't even know how Liz does it, but I knew from the prologue this would be a 5 star read... But in all actuality it gets ALL of the stars. Play Along will absolutely be a top read of the year, and an all time favorite. I didn't think anything would top Caught Up but Liz gets better and better. The entire Rhodes family owns my heart. Both of these books are perfection in my eyes. I LOVE the family/found family aspect of this series. Kai and Isaiah are my favorite brothers. I love how much they support and care for one another.. you can feel their love and it's everything. Please don't ask me to choose between them. They're both flawless and mine. Kai's speech... 😭😭😭 I can confidently say that I am as obsessed with Isaiah as Isaiah is with Kennedy. Down bad. So gone. I am positively giddy for this man. He was so endearing but also 🔥🔥 I loved how much he loved her.. he fell first, and he fell hard. I loved his sweet, caring, and happy demeanor. Their full circle moments in the women's bathroom were so perfect 🥹🤌🏼 One of my favorite things is how authentic these characters are. I feel like I know them- they're that real to me. Isaiah is so confident and strong but at the same time he has these vulnerabilities that make him all the more endearing. And Kennedy, this smart, strong, and beautiful girl was made to feel she was anything but.. so watching the two of them work through their struggles together and apart was so beautiful. I loved watching Kennedy fall for Isaiah.. through all the little moments.. all their banter and flirting.. their "teachings" and "games" — it was so fun and left me with the biggest smile on my face. I can't even put into words how much I loved this book.. yet I never want to stop talking about it.
I definitely recommend the audiobook! It was funny, sweet and emotional just an all around great story. Loved Isaiah & Kennedys dynamic from start to finish, I've been eager to read this one and it lived up to the hype!
I am seriously so in love with this book, series, & author. I tell myself each time that there is no way the next one could ever compete, and I cannot believe I ever let this doubt surface. This book is just as uniquely beautiful and special as the others. I think I will always & forever be a Ryan Shay & Indy fan first and foremost, but Isaiah, man oh man😭! “It’s not lost on me how rare he is.” Isaiah and Kenny have this connection that we can all see & feel and watching Kenny slowly open up & fall in love (& feel worthy of it!) was the greatest. As other reviews have said, this story has it all: the BANTER, the spice, the big moments, the small moments, the incomparable friendships/family (from previous books), the character growth, ughhh I can’t. Please read this book. It will make you laugh, swoon, clutch your heart, sob, & forever change how you look at people’s house decor😂. Favs-iykyk: the women’s restroom scenes, the crossword puzzles, the vans, the way he slowly made her comfortable & feel safe with touch—-this was SOOO well written, paced appropriately & natural—, the way he always made sure she was fed, the silly marriage nicknames (Mrs. Rhodes, ball & chain😂), putting fries on her burger for her, running to him during the thunderstorm, the glasses😭, the obsession😉for each other, little Max, Kai’s speech (🥺), and the straight up happiness they give together.
