A Standalone Billionaire, Marriage of Convenience Romance. You want to know the secret to everlasting happiness? Never fall in love.
That was the wisdom my father imparted to us James boys after our mom died, and it’s a piece of advice that’s served me well. Until dear old Dad asks me for a favor over Sunday brunch. No big deal, right?
I love making my old man happy. Except this “favor” is a lot more complicated than picking up his dry cleaning. Dad wants me to marry and provide a few heirs for the James empire, and he’s even done me the courtesy of handpicking my bride-to-be.
Lucky me. But if I’m being honest, I’ve grown tired of the endless cycle of dating, the constant small talk, and the ever-shrinking pool of women I haven’t already invited for a sleepover. I’m a lawyer, so contracts are kind of my thing.
And that’s all marriage really is—a contract negotiated between two parties. What could possibly go wrong? Enter Melanie Edison, the five-foot-four brunette with curves in ALL the right places.
A veterinary nurse with the smartest mouth I’ve ever heard. And I have more fun not dating her than I did dating any woman before, even with Melanie’s absurd no-sex-before-marriage rule. But when our business arrangement becomes so much more, I end up breaking my most important rule.
And that’s when it all goes to hell. I have no idea how we can ever repair the damage that’s been done. I’m not even sure I want to.
And maybe going back to my old life won’t be so hard. Except it’s too late. I broke my rule.
And she broke me.

I love her books. This one does have a lot of seggs in it but also a great Insight to their growing relationship. Mel was so cute and had lots of trauma I think she could have grown with in the book against her husband. I loved the plot and where it went. These books I don't take tooooo seriously in them being realistic so I don't mind the fantasy of it all with the plot. Spoilers: What I couldn't get over was how creul he spoke about her and the names he called her too his family. How he pumped and dumped her heartbroken. She's mad for all of two days and takes him back basically with open arms. Hell to the no! Its almost like her brother's abuse and she just takes it. He throws her out to the curb, and does his manly revenge on her, and she waltzs in with zero concern of his emotional maturity/respect for women and her future. Also tells him he's a good man. I guess some would understand this but it definitely didn't jive as healthy or character development. Also with him going out with his friend and that didn't hit the news hard? Make her upset that he's out with a woman while flirting with her. The world would have known something was up. I think this was missed as part of their problems and added to the overall story. One of the brothers could have said you filed for divorce right!? And then she could smack the shite out him when he brings it up as such you better not because she's a friend and you won't get a penny. Idk something.
Loved this book. There are no slow parts in this series. The characters are intense, well developed and likeable. The story line is interesting and the family dynamic is beautiful. This is a page turner and the love making is passionate, sizzling hot and intense. You will fall in love with family of brothers and want each of them to find that special someone.
I am completely done for! These characters and this story was so deliciously addictive, I could not get enough. Perfect start to this new series and everything a first book in the series should have. Grabs your attention and keeps you wanting more from the side characters, craving each one of their stories and their HEAs. Nathan and Melanie’s characters were complete perfection in true Sadie Kincaid way. Loved Melanie for her strength and the way her confidence changed and grew through the story. That girl brought out one ugly cry for sure. Nathan, oh my heart! That man is everything! Sweet, broody, cold Ice Man, vicious when he needs to, dirty talker who can definitely back those words up, and so much more. Had me wishing for a Nathan of my own! Couldn't get enough of these two and their emotional roller-coaster ride. “Nobody has ever made me feel like this.” I bite down on the soft skin of her neck. “And nobody ever will, corazón. You’re mine.” It's hard not to absorb every emotion coming from each of these characters. Sadie Kincaid has a great talent to bring her characters to life in each book she writes. Whatever they go through, you feel it with them as if you were right there going through everything with them, and Broken is no exception. Amazingly written in dual pov with its own HEA. Broken is book 1 in the new spin-off, Manhattan Ruthless series. Can be read as a standalone, but I'm already feigning for the next one.
3.5⭐️’s An arranged marriage, angsty, spicy read with a bit of fake dating thrown in at the beginning! I devoured this in a single day, it sucked me in and was a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Don’t let my rating make you think this wasn’t a good book because it was, it just was missing something for me that I can’t quite identify. There wasn’t a lot of “action” exactly but there was a ton of spice and plenty of angsty drama! Mel and Nate had great banter and chemistry together, his dirty mouth definitely made me blush a few times. The amount of times Nate said “my wife” had me swooning! He was possessive and jealous in a very hot way 😅Mel was sassy and was just a really likable character, although I wish she stood up for herself more in certain ways. There are some tiny appearances of characters from other series written by Sadie Kincaid that I enjoyed also. *Possible spoilers below* There is a third act breakup in this one, talk of SA, and also on page pregnancy loss in this one, so if that’s a trigger for you be aware
This is my first book by this author, and, honestly, it sat in my KU library for a couple weeks before I got around to reading it. O.M.G. What a great book. I am a sucker for a fake marriage story anyway, but the characters were so well written and the storyline was so awesome that I couldn’t put it down! I read it in 2 days, and it’s been a long time since I drove home from work thinking about the characters of a book and wondering what was going to happen next. I couldn’t pick it back up fast enough when I got home! I haven’t even looked to see what other books are in this series yet, but that will be my next stop. I can’t wait to read the next one!!
