About This Book

Amazon.com and Wall Street Journal #1 bestselling dark fantasy romance series from authors Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti - a Booktok sensation! I’m a Gemini. Impulsive.

Curious. Headstrong. A twin.

Heir to a throne I know nothing about. And it turns out, I’m Fae. But of course there’s a catch - all I have to do to claim my birth right is prove that I’m the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria.

And sure, technically that’s true as I’m the daughter of the Savage King. But the bit they didn’t put in the brochure was that every single Fae in this Kingdom would claim my throne if they could. The school they’ve sent me to is both dangerous as sh*t and one helluva party.

Vampires bite weaker students in the corridors, the Werewolf pack has orgies in the Wailing Wood at every full moon and don’t even get me started on the dark and twisted ways the Sirens use their powers on people’s emotions, or how my sinfully tempting Cardinal Magic teacher hosts detentions that leave people needing therapy. Classes are totally interesting if you manage to live through them. And that Gemini star sign I mentioned?

It now determines my elemental magic and affects my destiny, so learning astrology is essential if I’m going to beat down my classmates – which is actively encouraged by the way. My biggest problem is the drool worthy Dragon shifter who has his eyes on my throne. He and his three psycho friends are determined to make my time here hell.

All I’ve got to do is survive. But fate might have other ideas. Dammit, why couldn’t I have gotten a letter to Hogwarts?

***This is a enemies to lovers romantasy – don’t go expecting a sweet school for magic with friends around every corner. Fae fight for everything they own and Zodiac Academy is a cutthroat school for students aged 18+ where only the strongest prevail. There’s no Dumbledore here to save anyone’s ass and Lionel Acrux will give Voldemort a run for his money in the evil dictator category.

So hold onto your stardust (broomsticks not required) and get ready for a bumpy ride***

Alrighty I’m a bit unsure of how to rate this book. One one hand I did finish it and there were parts that I truly enjoyed. On the other…. I felt like I was reading a wattpad book written by a 14 year old. There were sprinkles of better moments for sure and they became more obvious towards the end, but the overall writing was just iffy. I truly only pushed through this book due to the hype it holds. But if it want so overhyped I would have DNF’d. I don’t really believe in the “keep reading it’ll get better in book — !!” Why should someone have to get through an entire book before anything gets good? I also don’t really enjoy bully romances so take that opinion as you may. I am not basing my review off of only a trope opinion so the 3 stars isn’t due to my dislike of this trope. I just don’t understand how someone could do such terrible things at all! Not even to mention still have a romance overlooking the crap they’ve done. I really do want to continue reading because I want to understand why this series has the book world in its claws. But the ending devasted me. There was a moment the writing got better and I was like alright I can keep going. and then damn. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t need happy endings in all my books especially if they’re in a series. I do feel like there should be something at the end of a book that makes the reader want to continue. And the only reason I want to continue is because of 1. the hype 2. it has to get better right? the writing, storyline, and cringey moment have to get better rightttt???? Also I stg if one specific character says “Babe” one more time ewwww. such an ick. I still have not decided if I will be continuing or not.

5/5!!

Star Rating: 3.6/5 Fun Rating: 5/5 Spice Level: 2.5/5 Tropes/CW for the series: Bully Romance, Fated Mates, Enemies to Lovers, Friends to Lovers, Multiple POVs, Non-Con/Dub-Con, Abus3 (physical and emotional), Slow-Burn, Forbidden Love Ok, this series is pure trash. But I am a trash panda, so I love it. This book in particular is very brutal. The kings are hella awful and the Vega twins are completely out of their depth and floundering in this new world. The professors are a mixed bag, some are ok, most are awful as well, as seems to be the way of the fae. Writing, bad all around. Eyeroll-y puns galore, glacially slow story, basic magic system, world-building is alright. What gets sucks you in though is the characters themselves. You love to hate them and you really are just rooting for the Vegas so hard. The antics of everybody are ridiculous and despite not a huge amount seeming to happen plot-wise, so much happens and there's never a moment of boredom. You will laugh and you will cry, no, completely breakdown reading this series. As of writing this review, I haven't finished reading the series because when I started reading the final couple of books weren't out yet and the cliffhangers were too brutal to keep reading without being able to jump into the next book immediately. And just to make it clear, despite the star rating (tried to be objective), I love this series and recommend it whole-heartedly. Partly because I want others to suffer as well, but also because it's genuinely a fun read.

Wow!!! Wooooooowww! This deserves more than 5 stars!

I literally read this in less than a day!! I felt like a druggie that needed her next fix in the form of pages and pages and more chapters! I. AM. ADDICTED! And I’m not even ashamed to admit it. First of all, the world building in this series is phenomenal. Honestly, it is one of the best I have ever read. I am completely invested in all the different aspects of this world. I love these types of books that immerse me in a different world and convince me that it really does exist LOL, and this book does it spectacularly. We are introduced to both Darcy and Tory in a normal, human setting. They have been in foster homes, have been in the system, and have had to live extremely tough lives. Once they turn 18, their hidden powers arise and they are discovered by a different entity. They need to go into the world they should’ve lived in all their lives and claim the throne. The girls have no idea what’s going on, but they are thrust into it all anyway, even though they don’t want to be there. They are the heirs to the throne; their parents were murdered, but they were smart and did something to protect their twin daughters. They switched them with human daughters and tried to get their real daughters to live normal human lives, away from the danger that is lurking in their world. However, they were still murdered along with the infant babies that they switched with their daughters. In their human lives, Darcy and Tory also lost their parents. So they basically can only rely on each other. In this new world, they follow zodiac signs to the t. There are four different elements that people can draw from, earth, air, water, and fire. There are also different aspects to all of this. People come from different divisions. The ones that we get to know are sirens, werewolves, vampires, and fire shifters, but there are more. The girls have to learn about all of this and have to learn how to hone their power. On their first day, they discovered that they could draw from all four elements, which is something that no one has ever been able to do. Normally, people can draw from one, some can draw from two, rarely can they draw from three- we end up finding out that one of their parents could draw from three of them, but no one can do all four and both girls can. Because the girls didn’t exist, there were four other heirs that were ruling this world, and the four boys are their bullies. There is Darius, Caleb, Seth, and Max. And we also get to know the delicious Professor Orion. The four boys are powerful, being the lead in one of the elements. They feel threatened by the girls, which is why they bully them. In the meantime, the girls face both friends and foes left and right. Although we don’t see any sexy times, there is a lot of sexual chemistry that is going on in so much tension that I found myself fanning my face and reading faster LOL. The way that the book ended was crazy and I hope that I get to see the girls get into the pocket of their power more and get back at these bullies in book two, because I am going for blood now LOL. I highly, highly, highly, highly recommend this series!!!!!
