This book was even better than the first!! All the changes he's making are going to make some interesting twists and turns. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait and see .the next book can't come out fast enough!!

I am really enjoying this series, competence is my favorite character trait and the MC has it in spades, although for that same reason the healer's (sorry I am awful with names) reluctance to push her abilities is starting to read more like lazy entitlement and less like her just not wanting to be a front line fighter (I can understand not wanting to be a front line fighter, especially since her team has plenty of those but her seeming reluctance to self improve on anything besides her healing and shield, to the extent of being reluctant to improve her blood line is a little... Disappointing) but that could just be me being too harsh on what was originally my favorite character in this series. But that aside I LOVE this book, the world building is fantastic and I am really enjoying how each character has depth and motivation outside the direct scope of the story, a certain hair dyeing boat lover being a good and funny example. I am eagerly awaiting the next book.

So, as always, I think Bruce did a great job writing this one.The plot has been really fun and interesting. But one of the things I love most about the litrpg/haram litrpg genre is getting to experience the power growth of the characters and seeing what directions that they are taken. As well as seeing these powers realized in epic battles. Bruce historically has done a great job a keeping my attention with giving his character well fleshed out in interesting powers (even if he forgets to use half of the powers in fight scenes sometimes lol). This series started off with the MC getting some really cool blood related powers in the last book that my imagination ran wild with. Imagining how he would incorporate the different bloodlines he was absorbing with his interesting blood powers got me really hype. This book takes a large step back from that. Instead of taking these really interesting blood powers and leaning into them the MC seems to want to distance himself from those powers and lean into becoming…well…a brute. Now don’t get me wrong the story does a good job at explaining his reasoning for this, but that doesn’t make it any less disappointing. Brute archetypes in this genre are the most mind numbingly boring stories to read. Every fight scene becomes the same, just like it did in this book (Make weapon, stun enemy, smash, smash, smash - repeat - Enrage! - repeat). It’s not fun to read. I’m hoping Bruce can salvage this a bit in the next one because i can already see it becoming very boring if the powers/fight scenes keep going as they have been.

Can not wait for the next book, love the world building and the character development. Best book cover I have seen in a long time.

I really really enjoy this series. The badass MC, fun love interests, really visceral fight scenes, and now the Greek mythology make this one of my favorite sequels. I can’t wait for the next book! I can only hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.

I am always skeptical of stories that have someone who has lived for hundreds of years then suddenly come back to set things right. Inevitably they act like the age they are instead of what they’re supposed to be with their “experience”. Bruce doesn’t fall into this trap. Bran acts much more mature and experienced, as he should, than an 18 year old and I thoroughly enjoy it. Nothing is worse than someone supposed to be old acting like a stuttering teenage twit. The continuation of this story was great. The progress kept going smoothly, the fights felt good, and character progression all around was extremely enjoyable.

Big fan of Bruce and love the Returners Defiance series. It’s only the second book, but this has quickly become a favorite of mine. I read a lot of webtoons and some Korean novels, this gives the same vibes but from a Western perspective. The whole system aspect and traveling back in time is done well. The world building and lore is very interesting and also written well. I enjoy all the characters both the main and side characters as well. Loved this book can’t wait for the next one.

I am really enjoying this series. 2 books in and the characters and world are great. Focusing on this book specifically, there are some slight problems, but overall a fun adventure and this series can go on for a long time (which im totally here for). Please dont rush the story this world has a lot to offer. In short some of aspects of the character foreknowledge is already irrelevant and the story has gone from a returners story to an adventure story(nothing wrong with that). On another critique i think the author stayed way too long in the initial instance. Overall the story is great but i wish we got to delve deeper into other aspects such as the Heros clan, Brans family, and the tartarus faction (especially with where the author wants to focus next).
