5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 !!!WARNING....SPOILERS FOLLOW!!! Oh my, oh my, oh my how I LOVE THIS BOOK! One of my favorite reads so far this year, without a doubt! I'm OBSESSED! 🔥👏🫡👑⚔️ This book had me in a twisted knot of anxiety and apprehension for the entire book. I could not stop wondering how it was going to play out. I ABSOLUTELY FRETTED....FRETTED, I SAY! 😧😯🤯 Everything about this story had me sucked in to this world of mystery, treachery, schemes, power plays, lies, backstabbing, secrets, hate, betrayal, loss, despair and grief. Of family, found family and undiluted, genuine friendship...love and trust and the monumental trials and rewards therein. I ABSOLUTELY FELL HEAD OVER HEALS FOR THIS BOOK! The friends that turn family in this story is everything. Everything. Every. Single. Thing. Not since the 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' books have I felt this level of attachment for the characters within the story. I cannot get enough of them. Their love for one another, their closeness, camaraderie, solidarity and belief in one another are completely alluring and amazing to watch unfold. This group of characters will steal your heart. Also, the humor, banter and wit that is shared among them all is perfection. Taran has my still beating heart in his gargantuan hands! I adore him. And Luther, dear Luther...simply fantastic. I'm ecstatic to begin the next book. This author HAS ME HOOKED! Her writing style, storytelling, character development and world building, just to name a few, are chef's kiss!
I would not call these books romantic fantasy, it is simply just a fantasy book. Pretty much zero romance in here. That being said, it is still a great book with a very intriguing story! Worth a read. SPOILER. At this point, I don’t think Diem and Luther will ever get together.
I remain obsessed with this series. Glow picks up immediately where Spark left us, thank goodness! Typically book 2 in these types of series doesn’t quite meet my expectations, but this one absolutely did! We get to follow along from Diem’s POV as she navigates this new role she most definitely didn’t expect or ask for! I will say, I can see how it would be easy to become frustrated with Diem for her choices and behaviors throughout most of this book. However, if you stop and think about the fact that she is super young and has been gaslit, manipulated, and/or lied to for basically her whole life then I think her decisions/behaviors make her simply seem more realistic. I wouldn’t expect her to just jump in and fully embrace her role without having some pretty significant self doubt, hesitancy, and overthinking. My only major complaint about her though is how much she still wanted to tell herself Henri loved her, I mean girl….your goals are very clearly not aligned anymore. Now, let’s talk about found family…they are perfection. The witty banter, teasing, and support between all these new characters is outstanding. I would read a whole book with Taran’s backstory, I need to know the dark history surrounding this gem of a guy. Eleanor’s honesty and unconditional loyalty is beautiful, and Alixe’s quiet but yet still profound presence is wonderful. And of course, I’m still shipping Lily and Teller. I loved the court intrigue and getting a better understanding of the descended and their caste system. I felt like we (as readers) were with Diem needing to decide who to trust vs. who were the total snakes….even though I was pretty certain the whole time, there were little things that made me question people. The description of grief and needing to find your own light within the darkness was very well depicted and felt so genuine. Now let’s talk Luther Corbois. Headed right to the top of the book boyfriend list. He is perfect, 10/10, no notes. Every thing he does has a purpose, and that purpose is ALWAYS to support, protect, encourage, or defend his Queen. He would literally do anything for her and it is *chefs kiss*. This is the slowest of slow burns, but the tension and the angst are on point. And that foot massage? I mean seriously?! Lastly, that cliffhanger conclusion was brutal. I think I left with more questions than answers, but only in the best way. I want to dive head first into the next book, but I also kind of want to hold off and savor it for just awhile longer. Not to mention I think I need to go back and re-read more details on this island because again, more questions than answers folks. Also, I listened to the audiobook while following along with my kindle version. The audio is wonderfully done too!
