About This Book

My mother only wanted me to learn one lesson growing up… Men are trash. Her father left her, and then my father left us. Being raised by her and my grandmother, I was surrounded by the reminder to be independent and guard my heart.

After my one and only experience with a boy in college fell flatter than a pancake, I realized they were right — and I was content to live the life of a twenty-six-year-old cat lady. Until Will Perry blew my quiet world to smithereens. Starting goalie for the Tampa Bay Ospreys and the kind of hot that scrambles your brain, all I was ever supposed to be to him was his daughter’s kindergarten teacher.

Then, in a twist of events, his temporary nanny. But temporary turns to permanent, and when I move into his pool house, everything changes. He’s impossibly grumpy and focused on only two things: hockey, and taking care of his daughter.

I’m only focused on using this new income to pay back my student loans. But in that house, I feel his heated gaze beneath that permanent scowl, the way it lingers and warms my skin. And though I know my mother would lose her mind if she knew, my dreams have become midnight fantasies about my long-haired, muscle-lined mystery of a boss.

When the tension becomes too much, we break, and we make a deal. He still needs a nanny. I still need a paycheck and for my matriarchy to not disown me.

But Will agrees to teach me everything I’ve always wanted to learn, and I’m all too eager to be his student. I can do this. I’m a grown woman.

I can explore my curiosities with the hottest goalie on earth and still remain one-hundred percent professional. And I can definitely do it all without catching feelings. I have to.

Otherwise, I’ll end up heartbroken in my mother’s arms while she shakes her head and asks me if I’ll ever learn my lesson. ___________________________________________ TROPES: Pro Hockey Romance Single Dad/Nanny Forced Proximity Spicy Lessons Grumpy Sunshine Age Gap Opposites Attract Found Family ___________________________________________ Learn Your Lesson is book three in the Kings of the Ice series: a series of interconnected standalones following a team of professional hockey players and the women who bring them to their knees. Be still my heart, Will. I completely adored this story. Kandi constantly delivers relatable, lovable characters. I have been waiting for Will Perry’s story from the moment we met him in Meet Your Match. I am a sucker for a Hockey goalie but make him a single dad and I am dead. His relationship with Ava melted my heart over and over again. I also could not get enough of Chloe’s light. She was such a breath of fresh air and just what this group needed to add. I love how true to herself she is and her quirkiness. Kandi continues to deliver such incredible characters and beautiful relationships. Thank you for a lovely story and the lessons we can all learn from.

This book was a nice read. The epilogue was my favorite, It was cute. That being said, this book was also a little boring. There are 37 chapters, 38 including the epilogue. Nothing happened until chapter 17 and even then it wasn’t that much. There were a couple of filler chapters that I felt were not necessary. In my opinion, this book could have been a lot shorter. But it was still a nice read and if you don’t mind a really slow burn, I’d give it a shot.

I loved this book, grumpy Daddy P, sweet Chloe, little Ava, and the struggles to their well earned HEA.

Book 3 in the Kings of the Ice series is about Chloe, kindergarten teacher and mama to 3 cats, and grumpy single dad Will Perry or “Daddy P” the star goalie for the Tampa Bay Ospreys. Not gonna lie. This one is by far my favorite story in this series. Grumpy Will is a heart melting, sexy, wonderful dad. Chloe is simply adorable and so amazing with little Ava. As Will struggles with keeping a nanny employed for his daughter, Chloe steps in to help. What starts out as a temporary fix, turns into her moving into the pool house as Ava’s permanent nanny, cats and all. Besides the sweet relationship that develops between Chloe and Ava, Will’s teammates are part of this story too as are their significant others who bring Chloe into the fold immediately. (This is a stand alone but you can meet these teammates in books 1 and 2 of the Kings of Ice series.) It’s wonderful to see Chloe make friends and become part of the hockey family because she’s never had anything like this in her life and she deserves this! Her mother and grandmother raised her and have instilled into Chloe that men should be avoided at all costs. But Chloe is drawn to Will and knows he’s one of the “good ones.” And Will can’t help but want more than a boss - nanny relationship with Chloe. Of course they initially fight their mutual attraction. Will isn’t about to get into a relationship and making Ava happy and feeling secure is the priority. He is terrified of caring for someone again only to potentially lose them. He wants Chloe and she him but. . . a secret physical relationship is all either one of them feel capable of. No feelings. Just satisfying a mutual attraction. And talk about steamy scenes! These two. Hotness overload! Chloe is very inexperienced. She wants Will to “teach her” everything. And I mean everything. Whew! But what will really draw you in, as it did me, is Ava and her dad navigating their grief over losing Ava’s mom. And Chloe helps them both. Their favorite expression? “We are doing our best.” Ava says it because she’s heard her dad say it often. And it’s emotionally heartbreaking every time. And when Will can no longer deny his feelings for Chloe! I was swooning hard. I loved this book, grumpy Daddy P, sweet Chloe, little Ava, and the struggles to their well earned HEA.

Cool read, super sexy

It was a good read. It seemed like a lot of filler thought processes rather than character dev. through dialogue. The HOT scenes were very hot, so that's a plus.

Couldn’t put this down!!

⭐️: 5/5 🌶️: 4/5 Tropes: -Single dad/nanny -Hockey romance -HOT lessons -Opposites attract -Forced proximity -Grumpy/sunshine -Found family Summary: Chloe’s matriarchy only wanted her to learn one lesson and that is that all men are trash. Until Will walks in. The two can’t fight their attraction from one another until they give in. But with rules, neither can get attached. He needs a nanny and she needs the job. The two believe they can definitely not catch feelings. But there may be more than one lesson to learn. My Thoughts: Wow!! This book left me speechless. It was amazing!! This is my first Kandi Steiner book and now I have to start from the beginning of the series. I was convinced to read this book after seeing it all over bookstagram when it released last week and let me tell you…this book is amazing!! I loved every second of it. It was funny, it was angsty and sometimes sad, it was refreshing, it was spicy…it was everything! Put me in all the feels. Although you gave us whiplash with your emotions it was understandable. To grieve years later without realizing it but to have someone there who sees you and wants to bring you joy. When he knew he loved Chloe his declaration to her was all I needed. Chloe was such a light and a rainbow at the end of the storm for Will and his daughter Ava. She was unapologetically her. I loved how she learned to have confidence in herself and her body. She took care of them in more ways than they could have ever imagined. I’m so glad she didn’t let her mom and grandma’s views get in the way of her wanting to see where things could go with her and Will. The man-haters definitely annoyed me but I tried to take it as them wanting to care for Chloe lol. The friendships in this book were beautiful. The friendship between Chloe and Chef was so cute. I need the tea on her and Uncle Mitch 😂 because I need more!! And when I tell y’all the spice was spicing!! It was GOOD. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation to all who posted and pubbed this book, it is a MUST read!!
