This is an excellent production of Montgomery's classic work! The cast is perfect, the quality of the sound, background, etc. is wonderful. No annoying background noises as in some audio books. I felt myself transformed to Prince Edward Island once again. I hope Focus on the Family produces more audio books of the classics. They excel at radio theater. Perhaps Montgomery's entire Green Gables series?
This was a pleasant surprise because I thought it was an audio book. This is an excellent dramatization and I would highly recommend it. My children, ages 12, 10, 7 and 5, (three are boys) all very much enjoyed it and we are listening to it now for the second time in row. Makes drives back and forth to school so much more enjoyable for them. I wish they had Anne of Avonlea!
This is a terrific dramatization of a lovely book... But please note that it is an abridged version of the original text. I am listening to this Radio Theater version with my 9-year-old son. Each character is played by a different actor which makes it easier for my son to understand the dialogue. For those who are passionate about the original text I recommend the unabridged audiobook performed by Canadian actress, Rachel McAdams. This recording is so enjoyable that I will definitely purchase more stories from Focus on the Family Radio Theater.
Of all the Focus on the Family audio dramas I've listened to, this one is the best. As in all of them, the quality of the dramatization itself is exceptional: the voice actors and the sound effects are excellent. But unlike the other books that Focus on the Family has dramatized, this one seemed to survive the dramatization process well. It was easy to follow, no fill-in narrator was needed, and I didn't feel that any of the book had been lost. I highly recommend this, especially for families with children.
Hello. My name is Kierra. I am homeschooled so I read a lot of books. Anne of Green Gables is a great book for all children. It like any other book has it's moments. Sad, funny, happy and even romance. Anne is spirited and talkative. My brother said if he ever had a kid that talked as much as Anne did, he said he would duct-tape her mouth shut. There is stubbornness, but those are the funny parts. I hope you like it as much as I do!
I very much enjoy listening to any of the Focus on the Family Radio Theater dvds! Especially Anne of Green Gables. I get easily distracted when listening to audio tapes but Radio Theater is perfect! It’s like you are there. Ever wished you were a fly on the wall? That’s how I feel when I listen to Radio Theater. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I gifted this to my grandmother who is vision impaired. She loves Anne of Green Gables and hadn't read it in a long time. She absolutely loved this version because there are different actors rather than the same narrator reading the entire story. She loved the music and other sound effects as well.
My husband and I both loved this story! We love to listen to books when we go on long trips and we were riveted to this book. We would keep listening after we got to our destination until we had to get out of the car.
