So I hated this book because there is no plot line and the writing is so so repetitive. Like we get it, theyre so down bad for each other but its wrong for them to be together so they pretend. I hope to never read that word again haha. the first book was really good. I loved the writing and the tension and the plot. I see a lot of people hating on having kai's perspective included, but that made it so much better. he was written super well. the second book was kinda disappointing, and then they randomly kissed each other (it seems out of place in that sentence but thats how it was in the book too). plus kitt is so unhinged which is fine but if I were a brother I would not be out here stealing my brother's girl whether or not I was literally insane from grief and betrayal. I haven't really read any fanfics but this was kinda like one, just missing jackson wang lol. The addition of ava was super unnecessary and it felt super awkard. I hated how the same words kept on being repeated. I think everyone should know by now that paedyn thinks kai is insufferable. ANYWAYS besides all that I enjoyed kitt's character development, I honestly feel so bad for him because he doesnt deserve what he has coming to him. I don’t want him to be the villain but I think it will make the third book worth reading just for the plotline. Paedyn's dad's journal was literally the key the non existent plotline. it was such a good detail to add. there were some cute scenes, i just got tired of seeing them repeated. I loved how paedyn just kept on trying to escape, I found it really funny. it was great how both characters were able to overcome challenges and grow together. ive heard people say this series is basically a copy of other ones, but I havent read them so I don’t really care about that. the first book was just so good and reckless was kind of a let down after all that, but I will still read the third book. powerful was also really good. I actually cried because you start reading it knowing it wont end happily, but it was written really well. I wanted makoto to appear in reckless, I think that would have been better than randomly throwing ava and abigail in. overall, many mixed feelings about this book. something just doesnt sit right with me about it. of course, its not like the author can change the book now, but I needed to rant after what ive been through. still don’t know if I hate it or like it.
"Reckless," the second book in The Powerless Trilogy by Lauren Roberts, takes the excitement and suspense to a whole new level. As a fan of the first book, I was eager to dive into this sequel, and it did not disappoint. The plot picks up seamlessly from where the first book left off, with even more twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages. Roberts continues to excel in world-building, creating a vivid and immersive setting that draws you in. The stakes are higher, and the tension is palpable as the characters face new challenges and dangers. The character development in "Reckless" is outstanding. The protagonist and supporting characters grow in unexpected ways, revealing deeper layers of their personalities and backstories. The relationships and dynamics between them become even more complex and compelling, adding richness to the narrative. One of the standout aspects of this book is the action. The pacing is spot-on, with plenty of thrilling moments that had me on the edge of my seat. While there are some predictable elements, the overall story is gripping and full of surprises. If you enjoyed the first book in The Powerless Trilogy, "Reckless" is a must-read. It’s an intense and thrilling sequel that will leave you eagerly awaiting the final installment. Lauren Roberts has crafted a captivating series that continues to deliver with each book.
I had high hopes for this one, as the first & the novella were incredible, and I was not disappointed! I don’t read much YA, but I adore this series so far! This continues the story between Pae & Kai directly after the events that ended the first book, & it’s instant action! They have such a great push/pull, banter, tension, & how their feelings progress just hook you & keep you enthralled throughout! Kai is struggling with his duty to his brother but also his feelings for Pae, & Pae struggles with how much she feels for him as well. It’s just so well done & keeps you wanting more & more! The cliffhanger!!!!!!!!! PS: I liked how we get some more insight into Kitt, but this man made ANGRY at the end! Like, SIR😵💫
