I loved the mystery and the puzzles. I also love that due to the size of the house there could be countless mysteries to unlock. I had a feeling something was up and figured out the twist leading into the second book. There are definitely charged romantic moments, but it’s really just charged. It’s definitely a mystery book but not really a romance unless you consider the WIZARDING world romantic.

Absolutely Delightful!

I've read 60 books in the past three months, a mixture of fiction, non-fiction and 3 books of poetry. I had started three books in series that I love and had been waiting for them to be released, and for some reason not a single one of them was holding my interest. Then this book popped up as a recommendation, I saw that it was a young adult book, but even in my 50's, I find I can enjoy any genre if the story is good. I read the sample first and was transported to my youth and reminded of a book I loved as a child, called The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin and I was hooked! I read this in one day, in which I dreamed big, and puzzled hard! Every moment of this was delightful to me. I loved the characters, the plot, the feelings of simple joy it brought me as each mystery unfolded into the next one and the writing kept me absolutely engaged. I would not change a single thing. But right now I need to go, because I need to buy the next book in the series, to get lost in the riddles and mysteries of the Hawthorne family and Every is connections to them all. Read this book, young or old, you won't be disappointed. And I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

what a fun book! an interesting story that keeps you wanting more, with an excellent cliffhanger. A girl who comes into a fortune after someone dies, someone she doesn't know. This brings her to hawthorne house where she meets the 4 brothers and begins to play the game. You feel like you're trying to solve the puzzle with the characters. Overall a great read.

And this one does not disappointed. The premise is original, the pace is fast, the characters are on point and the cliffhanger at the end is a nice hook. I’ll definitely read the whole series. I enjoyed getting to know the Hawthorn brothers and Avery. There’s many layers to the story, some plot holes, but nothing too critical.

I did so much research to find a good book and I'm so glad it paid off because this book was amazing you would care about the love triangle going on not really do I care about the boys in the series not really maybe Nash am I still intrigued by this old guy's story yes yes I am because I want to know I want to know I want to know how this game ends because the ways that we were given so many clues in the way that we had to figure everything out ourselves or wait until the next part of the book anything that was so cool and it kept me interested the entire time so I'm very glad about that

I binge read this book and then the rest of the trilogy in a day and a half. I enjoyed the unique characters. I appreciated the unity of the brothers, despite their differences and disagreements. Following the characters as they worked out the puzzles was fun and interesting. I wasn’t crazy about the love triangle angle, but it didn’t detract from the book enough for me to remove a star. The story was well-written and paced quickly enough that I never got bored. I didn’t want to put it down.
