I knew this story was going to break me even more than Johnny and Shannon, but nothing could have prepared me for this! I LOVED watching Joey and Aoife’s toxic friendship turn in to a toxic relationship. 🥴 Toxicity aside their love for each other is so heart warming. Joey is so broken and all she wants to do is fix him. Love love love!!!
I loved seeing the story from Joey and Aoifes perspective. I also love me a good slow burn. However, for being a YA book, there were too many sex scenes. Also the miscommunication in this book was too much and too rough for me, I get that it’s realistic with addicts, but sometimes I don’t read for realism. However, I thought this book was great. I will be continuing!
This book has absolutely stolen my heart! This series is beyond compare, and this installment has left me emotionally wrecked in the best way possible. Joey’s journey is one of heartache, resilience, and raw vulnerability, and I found myself completely immersed in every page. The emotional turmoil Chloe Walsh weaves into this story is excruciatingly perfect. It’s a rollercoaster of pain and passion, and I felt every single moment. Joey’s struggles, his battles, and his love are so deeply moving that I can’t even find the words to fully capture the depth of my feelings. This book has shattered my heart into pieces, and yet, I wouldn’t change a thing. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series!
A great book that describes addiction. A struggle of numbing a pain with whatever allows you to get away from the pain in real life. A love so passionate and toxic that it hurts to give up. Joey's story is both heartbreaking and sincere. It was a bit slow in the beginning but maybe it's because I already knew what was happening.
While I struggled to get through the first Book in this series, this book was perfection. Very much still a slow burn and building of their relationship. But both characters are so beautiful and complex. The depth of trauma and the struggles that Joey goes through to keep his siblings safe is immense. And Aoife Molloy is a fantastic heroine and one of my absolute favorite characters. We should all have as much snark and zest for life as this beautiful girl. She was blessed with a lovely family and with them will fight tooth and nail to save Joey. Joey’s love for Aoife is beautiful and his tremendous fight against his demons for no other reason than her love is equally moving and intense. Their story isn’t over and I know there are immense difficulties to come. Can’t wait to dive in to the rest of their love story.
It’s incredible to know so much about these characters from having read two books prior to this third one in the series and yet this book was a revelation. You really get a much deeper insight into the Lynch, family and all of their immense struggles. It’s absolutely heartbreaking and painful and yet Chloe Walsh takes you through this beautiful story, where you finally get to know Joey and Aoife. I absolutely can’t wait to read the next book and to get the beautiful conclusion to their story. This book is absolutely worth reading if you love epic storytelling with incredibly emotionally complex characters.
Heed this warnings, this book is very upsetting and graphic. I skipped most of the abusive scenes as I had enough of that in the first two books. Let’s talk about my girl Aoife. This girl, let me paint a picture. Brazen, Loud, Outspoken, Mischievous, Self assured, Free spirit, Pure heart, Penchant for trouble and Spiteful. The absolute balls on this girl. She is strong, independent, and unapologetically herself. Her presence commands attention, and her actions speak volumes. She is a force to be reckoned with, Joey had no chance. Even though Shannon had it so tough, in her books Joey had it worst. He had his mother to deal with and she was not kind. She actually had the audacity to compare Joey to his abusive jackhole father. That one sentence did his head in. It was unfair and untrue.
I loved the glimpses we got of Joey in Shannon and Johnny’s books and knew immediately that I wanted his story. Saving 6 is an emotional rollercoaster of a book. Light and funny at times, and completely heartbreaking during others. Joey is a unique character with many layers. Love for his family is what motivates him but is also cause for his destruction. He’s fiercely loyal, completely selfless, and good to his core, while putting his own health and safely at risk and maybe even sacrificing his own happiness along the way. Joey and Aiofe have a complex relationship that is uniquely them. They are devoted to each other as friends first then lovers, and become tangled up in each other’s lives throughout their time at school. I thought the banter between Johnny and Gibsie was top notch, but the back and forth of Joey and Aiofe was everything I never knew I needed. We know what happens to the Lynch family from reading Binding and Keeping, but experiencing it through Joey’s point of view gave me an entirely new perspective and added depth to this heartbreakingly beautiful story. I love these characters. I feel like they are a part of me, and that’s the power of Chloe’s writing and storytelling. I’ll be taking a bit of a pause before diving into part two and hope to go right into Taming 7 in just a few weeks!
