We used to rely on RS for trips but no more. Maybe first time traveler to Paris would find value, but first they would need a magnifying glass to read ridiculously small print, and it’s quicker/easier to find info on the internet- would not recommend.
I have to agree with another reviewer who said that the paper was too gray and the print not dark enough. My eyes are no longer young - I appreciate more contrast in the print that I read, plenty of light, and larger print than provided in this book of over 700 (as one reviewer described them) "Bible-thin pages".. Although I can't really complain about font size since Rick packs so much information in this book . After trying to read it I purchased the Kindle version, which I give 5 stars to. I rely on Rick Steve's advice and recommendations whenever traveling to Europe. He offers sage advice based on countless trips leading tourists over many decades, and he especially focuses on restaurants, hotels, cafes, and other places that are smallish, run by locals, and which will NOT make you think you are back in the US!. So - consider your eyes before deciding on the print versus the Kindle version!
Very specific
Knows his stuff we get a new book every time a new version comes out - love the info
Great travel book outline sights to see, museums, hotels, transportation and more. I will definitely bring this book with me on my trip!
We've used quite a few of Rick's books and since we're heading to Paris in a few weeks, we wanted the newest, up to date book. So much helpful info in this!
I'm a big time and long time fan of Rick Steves, and having visited 10 countries for business travel, I hate staying in tourist-filled hotels that offer no personal connections to meeting and interacting with locals. I've been fortunate enough to visit a few countries after my business concluded, and ever since I stayed at the Skeppsholmen hostel in Stockholm, hostelling is my way to travel. Rick's country and city guides ALWAYS provide EXCELLENT insights and recommendations for "the road less traveled" to avoid other American tourists and discover hidden gem locations to experience while going easy on your wallet. FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY!!!
This guide comes with a map of Paris as well as the guide of the city. Where to stay from 4-$$$$, and help with are these places disabled helpful and child friendly. Students on a budget will love his reviews on affordable places to eat, stay, and best sightseeing. Transportation cabs to car rental and rail options. Including what you need to know on rental vehicles, such as insurance ( this is important information) and what to do if you get sick or have an accident. His books are just a wealth of information.
