As expected... purchase as a gift. Recipient was very happy with the book.
If you are outdoorsy and love visiting parks then this is for you. I think it will inspire you to visit more national parks. I know there is plenty of information online but a physical copy is nice for when you don't have service or battery. I have also flipped through this and found some national parks that I never heard of. Later diving in deeper about them online. I give 4 stars and not 5 because it only gives an overview of a park. It gives enough information for you to broadly plan a trip and have an idea of each park. You will need to go online to find more information. I wish it was much more in-depth but I suppose that depends on your hobbies. Here's a brief example: I love to fish and found a new park in this book. I then went online to get much more information on the type of fishing and how good it actually is. This is just a good book to flip through every once and awhile if you are thinking of planning a trip (a.k.a good toilet reading material). Pros: - Smaller sized book, easy to travel with - Allows you to get a good idea of all the National Parks in the U.S. - Contains pictures and general information on camping, lodging, things to do, and when to visit - Has park maps - Can expose you to new parks - Affordable resource - Though not all encompassing, this will give you a good amount of information. Enough for you to decide whether to add to your list or not. Cons: - Only gives an overview of each park. Online research will be required, especially if you have specific hobbies.
This book has detailed information on all parks and includes tips on what to see and how many days you will need.
