This beautiful leather bound Bible is easy reading and perfect for a new believer to pursue God in His word!
OK. I am somewhat of a Bible nerd. I've got 7 at least. Lessee...the Peshitta, the Orthodox Study Bible because it is the only one that uses the Septuagint, couple of KJV's, the new KJ, the NRSV, and now this ESV. For clarity, cleanliness of language, flow and easy readability, this translation is the best I've found by FAR. UNlike the NASB, not wooden or clunky. UNlike the NIV, it doesn't try to paraphrase. UNlike the NRSV, it doesn't insult your intelligence with excessive political correctness. Yes, it is based on what the translators thought were the best critical texts. So if you prefer Textus Receptus, I suggest the NKJV or the Orthodox study bible. But for the rest of us, I don't think you're going to get a more accurate or more easily readable translation. Now, for the physical bible itself: For value, this one knocks it out of the park! Beautiful leather binding, LARGE print, easy on my aging eyes. It is a joy to read. It doesn't have cross references, gold gilded page edges, or place holder ribbon. For this price, easy to forgive. So this isn't your study bible. This is your take to church, or read in bed bible. I am impressed enough with this translation that I'm probably gonna order another one with all the trimmings!
I added one of those baby aspirin that you take when you’re an old person and you’re at risk of a heart attack as a comparison for the size of the text. It’s not really very large I still need to wear my cheater glasses in order to see the print. Also, the paper is pretty thin. The cover is really pretty though. And it’s comfortable to hold. I bought this because I want this particular translation in print as well as the digital version I have on my phone.
I use it for my personal use.The lettering is bigger so I can read better.
Bought this for my son. He loves it. It has a feel of quality. Priceline was good.
I had a white leatherlook Bible as a child, gold trim pages, in its own zipper little case and I have not been able to find one like it. I looked and looked at all the Bibles online, and finally decided to just get this one - was not familiar with ESV, so I looked it up. I have to say, I am happy I got this. I keep this Bible by my bedside, and take it with me in my carryon when I travel. It is easy to read and the pages are sturdy enough for me to make notes in pencil. I have had no problems at all with it - and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a easy to see/read Bible. It's not fancy. It's super simple. I think thats just fine.
I like the size of the print and the lightness of the bible
Last week, I did something I haven’t done for nearly 25 years: I purchased a print copy of the Holy Bible. I have several large Bibles that I have collected over the past four decades, but as I have gotten older, I’ve found that their small print has gradually become more and more difficult for me to see and read. So, I decided I wanted an inexpensive modern English translation that has larger than normal print, while at the same time is small enough to carry with me wherever I go. My Bible of choice was the “ESV Large Print Value Thinline Bible.” It turned out to be an excellent choice in every regard. Before buying this Bible, I had never even heard of the English Standard Version (ESV) translation. I really like it. The ESV is “an essentially literal” translation with roots in the King James Version (KJV) and Revised Standard Version (RSV). Although the English is modern, it retains much of the majestic and poetic “flavor” and “feel” of the older KJV and RSV. I find it a joy to read. I like everything about my new “ESV Large Print Value Thinline Bible.” It is a perfect size for me – about 8½” x 5½” x 1”. (That’s only slightly larger and thicker than my 8” tablet.) The Bible’s cover is made from a synthetic material called “TruTone,” which very much has the look and feel of leather. It is soft and supple and feels great in my hands. The binding is Smyth-sewn, making it more durable and allowing the Bible to lay flat when opened. The paper is thin but appears reasonably wrinkle- and tear-resistant. The text is set in a 10-point Lexicon font that’s very easy on my eyes. The print on the back of each page is somewhat visible on whatever page I am reading, but certainly not enough to be distracting. The Bible’s page edges are not gilded, and there is no marker ribbon. I think the “ESV Large Print Value Thinline Bible” is a beautifully made Bible that's winner in every way. Highly recommended.
