If you are going anywhere in Europe you must get the RS book. Well worth the $25 bucks. Usually buying the book gives you access to his website. i download the walking tours to my phone so i can listen instead of having to carry the book and read outload to my wife.

This new Rick Steves guide explores the sunny island of Sicily. Long the crossroads of the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily features multiple layers of Greek, Roman, Viking, Arab and other cultures, sitting on top of a rugged island shaped by volcanoes, the sea, and many wars. This book is the enterprising traveler's guide to what to see (and what to avoid). The book's chapters cover the major cities and regions of Sicily. It has lots of guidance on how to get around, where to stay, what to eat, and how to make the best use of your vacation time. The text includes lots of color and black and white photographs, maps, and diagrams. As with other Rick Steves guides, read the whole book before committing to your trip. Plan ahead to reduce aggravation and frustration. Very well recommended to the enterprising traveler.

I use the Rick Steves material for all my European trips. It is written well. Our sons think they are written for us older people and they don't care about them :-) Rick sells slip covers so the relevant pages for the day's sight seeing can be ripped out and placed in their own cover - so you only carry the thin material for the day and not the entire book.

Comprehensive guidebook. Full of tips & interesting info.

Comprehensive guide to Sicily with good recommendations. Only shortcoming is a lack of information on the interior of the Island.

Like all Rick Steves’ guides, this is full of excellent information, with detailed descriptions of the major sites in Sicily. I especially liked the description of the Monreale Cathedral, the Villa Romana floors, and the walking tour of Taormina. My only beef is that it did not mention the Zingaro Nature Reserve, which we found to be a highlight of our trip.
