My girls ages 8 and 10 love to go to sleep listening to these. All of the Odyssey CD's have been good, but the Bible Eyewitness has had an incredible impact on them. My 8 year old has learned so many Bible stories that when we pick up the children's Bible to read, most of the time she interupts at the beginning of the reading and says "I know this story, this is what will happen" and proceeds to tell me the whole story. I have just been amazed. Wonderfully animated voices and easy to follow yet detailed stories keep her begging for one each night. We have had the Odyssey series in general for years now. They still love them and these CD's are part of their bedtime ritual. However, my eight year old just started listening to this particular set of the Bible Eyewitness and already has learned so much. You simply cannot go wrong with this set for ages six and up. A story or two may have something that because it is dramatized so well, can be a bit scary for my younger daughter so I would say ages six and up. This is only so in a couple stories. In summary, all of the Adventures in Odyssey series' are great but the Bible Eyewitness has really proved to be a teaching tool as well. If you want your kids to really know their Bible stories and to be entertained, this is the series for you! I have new ones waiting for their Christmas stockings this year and they will be excited to see them!
These Adventures in Odyssey bring the Bible stories to life for my kids. Through a variety of different methods, mainly imagination station and acting as radio reporters, Adventures in Odyssey has done a great job of telling many Bible stories in 36 episodes gathered together into one set here. For the most part Adventures in Odyssey does a great job of telling the story faithful to the Biblical accounts. Sometimes I feel that they miss the point when talking about application, but at the same time, other times, they are right on. Overall, I don't know of a better audio Bible Story resource for telling these stories. Listen to these with your kids, and you will get a great chance to talk not only about the Biblical stories, but about the God that is active in all of them. This set includes 3 volumes, each with 4 discs of 3 episodes apiece, for a total of 12 cds. I recommend you just get the whole set, because at the time of writing the review it was a lot cheaper getting all of them in a single collector's set than individually. Volume 1-2: Include Old Testament Stories (volume 2 has two episodes on birth of Jesus) Volume 3: All New Testament, mostly from the life of Jesus.
I've been a huge fan of "Adventures in Odyssey" ever since I was 9 years old. I am 26 now. This radio drama enspired me to become a Christian. The "Bible Eyewitness" collection contains some of the Odyssey team's best work. With professional actors, brilliant sound effects, and witty dialogue, biblical accounts come vibrantly to life. Here are just a few of the gems you'll encounter in this set: 1. "The Imagination Station." This unforgettable episode tells the story of Digger Digwillow, a boy who refuses to read his Bible because he thinks its boring. Mr. Whitaker has invented a new machine, "The Imagination Station," which transports Digger back in time to the events of Jesus' death and resurrection. 2. "Bernard and Esther." This episode is one of my favorites. Bernard Walton, Odyssey's resident window-washer, relates the story of Esther to Robin and Melanie Jacobs in a compelling and exciting manner. Bernard's seemingly brusque manner cannot conceal his loving heart, and he whets the two girls' appetite for more Bible adventures. 3. "The Marriage Feast." This episode is a retelling of the Parable of the Marriage Feast, located in the Book of Matthew, Chapter 24. The story is both humorous and thoughtprovoking. 4. "B-TV Envy." This episode emphasizes the dangers of one of Satan's most distructive tools. By retelling Cain and Abel's story as a talk-show, Naboth's Vineyard as a police procedural, and David and Bathsheba as a cartoon, the Odyssey team grabs the attention of kids and adults alike. These episodes barely scratch the surface of this exceptional collection. Please give the show a chance because it is an excellent teaching tool to use with kids. God bless.
I love getting the Odyssey cd's for the car! My children really enjoy the stories and most times I am super pleased with the portrayal of the books of the Bible and storylines. A few times I cringe when they bring up a story about a children who steals or is abused in storylines and I have to explain to my 11,7 and 5 year old that those things really do occur, but they are teachable moments. My kids are very sheltered so it is often shocking to hear about even a child who's parents are going through a divorce. I do use those times in the Odyssey stories to tell my children about God's love for them and the redemption we all receive in Christ!! I just thought I would advise some of you like me, maybe listen to them before you just stick the cd in the car and you will be prepared for some of the topics. I do appreciate though, how the Odyssey messages from the Bible are true but kid friendly....no mention of what happened with Lot and his daughters etc. Another example, there is mention of Sodom and Gomorrah and that it was a place where there was evil in the sight of the Lord.....and doesn't mention the full spectrum of sin. Overall.....SUPER Blessed by these stories and the creators. Thank you!!
My kids love the adventures in odyssey this is an awesome way to get the bible stories taught to them because they will sit and listen for hours. Good for all age groups
THESE CDS ARE GREAT! I listened to these stories with my children yrs ago. I bought a set for myself. I love them! Lot of fun and learning!
