About This Book

In her debut poetry collection, Hayley gives voice to the roots of struggle and pain growing up, as well as the love and pursuit of self-acceptance that were fundamental in her own choice to live. Her verses weave a narrative that is both deeply personal and universally resonant–through shadows of the past and the fleeting moments of joy captured in the simplicity of sharing an orange. “even when you think there's nothing left life gives us oranges so go share one with your best friend maybe they thought the world would end when they were 16 too.” -- from save me an orange

I saw some of the pages from this book on tiktok and purchased it to help cope with getting out of an abusive relationship and to heal, it kinda did the opposite so that was kinda unexpected but the writing portrays emotions in a beautiful way that makes sense and relatable.

Hayley Grace’s “save me an orange” is a beautiful, poignant work of art and coming-of-age story. The first thing I recognized was its instant relatability. While containing some very expertly-applied literary devices that all good poetry should contain, it is written in a pretense-less style that most readers should be able to consume. More importantly, it is so agonizingly raw and painful in emotion, at times, I found myself openly crying. It truly touched my heart. Please, friends, do yourself a favor and read Grace’s amazing words. You’ll not soon forget it. Highly recommended.
