My 3yo loves this book! It’s fall in Boise and tbe squirrels have all come out of hibernation to collect the acorns falling from the trees. My little guy has taken to pretending to be a squirrel digging up acorns and offering them to us. It’s so sweet. I saw this book for sale and thought it would be a hit—both for the squirrel element and for learning about autumn. This book has been BETTER THAN I COULD’VE IMAGINED! We read it back to back to back. It’s funny. It’s thoughtful. It teaches about why the leaves fall. It’s PERFECT!
My kids love this story and so do I!
The hardcover has just the right amount of copper colored foil on the leaves, title, and author/illustrator information which make it impossible to pass on the shelf. The bright brash colors and simplicity of the illustrations is complementary to the text and the hyper over-acting of the squirrel character likening him to actor Jim Cary. The very primary science aspect of this book is engaging, and the facts about Autumn in the back of the book extends learning in an entertaining way. Every environmental educator will appreciate the learning opportunities this book offers. Reviewed by Books Children Read.
Such a great read and so many fun activities you can do with the book!
This book is so cute. Perfect fall book! We have made it a tradition every year to read this book in the beginning of September.
My 15 month old grandson immediately loved this book when he received it and 5 months later is still a favorite- Though most of his books at the time were board books, he always eagerly pulled this off the shelf and sat through the whole book. The pages have quite a bit of dialogue so it can be reduced as needed for attention spans building up to reading the whole page. My grandson knew "Bird!" was coming after one read and laughs. He is now 20 months and still he picks it most nights as part of bedtime stories. The pictures are fun and it is a cute story. As a speech path- I love how engaging the book is for little ones and I am sure my grandson will continue to enjoy the book through his preschool years. The end of the book has interesting science facts as well (the book can "grow" with him). I highly recommend it!
This is a delightful book that's perfect for my little leaf enthusiast. My toddler, who loves picking up leaves and bringing them home (which is why I absolutely had to grab this, haha), finds this story enjoyable and humorous, as do we! It's a fun read with engaging illustrations, and its just long enough to make it feel like a great value. The book has quickly become a favorite in our household, and an excellent addition to our reading collection. Would recommend!
