Wanted some nice spiritual "reading" to listen to on upcoming trips. These are classic works, but the quality seems jittery at times. Enjoyable overall.
I recently joined Audible so I could listen to books while I am out on my daily walk. I plan to attend the C.S. Lewis Summer Institute in the Summer of 2022 and want to go through his best books before that. I've read most of them in the past, but listening to them is such a great refresher! Having all of his best classics in one set is awesome! I am half way through "Mere Christianity" and I LOVE the voices of the readers...they are clear, easy to understand, read at a good pace and have that amazing English accent that give it such authenticity when listening to C.S. Lewis books! I say get it!
" EchoChrist 1.0 out of 5 stars NO WAY to listen to individual books. 500+ chapters back to back to back. Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2022 DO NOT BUY! This is not individual books in a multibook collection. The books are all run together as one. No way to pick what book you are listening to. No way to know what book you are listening too. Unbelievable." You are incorrect! If you click chapters you can not only select which book you are listening to, but even each individual chapter. EchoChrist's 1 Star Review should be removed for being inaccurate.
Would have been nice to be able to see what the contents were on each disc. Have to fast forward a lot to find what reading you're looking for.
I just love this author. Such a masterful storyteller. He has a way with words that really make you see things clearly. When I saw this set on audible I thought it was a great way to get a lot of his books for just one credit! Amazing value. My children have loved his fantasy stories but I want to introduce them to his other writings as they've had such a profound effect on me. When I mention that I'm going to turn on an audio book by the author of the Narnia series I don't get complaints for the back seat crowd. LOL
This is a wonderful collection of C.S. Lewis. The quality of the audio is perfect. The voice quality is engaging. Although this can be listened to on a computer, it is most conveniently done so on the Audible app (get the app!). Heard on a computer, the entire collection is divided into chapters. The chapters do not correspond to the chapter divisions in each book. I have included those chapter divisions (not those of each book) and the narrators for each book below. However, to locate each individual book in this collection use the time stamps below: Chapter 1 – 00:00:00 - Mere Christianity - narrated by: Julian Rhind-Tutt Chapter 42 – 07:05:16 - The Screwtape Letters – narrated by Joss Ackland Chapter 78 - 11:04:48 - The Great Divorce – narrated by Julian Rhind-Tutt Chapter 94 - 14:26:33 - Miracles – narrated by Julian Rhind-Tutt Chapter 113 – 21:49:18 - The Problem of Pain – narrated by James Simmon Chapter 125 - 25:39:18 - A Grief Observed – narrated by Douglas Gresham Chapter 132 - 27:32:12 - The Abolition of Man – narrated by Douglas Gresham Chapter 135 – 29:07:15 - The Weight of Glory – narrated by Julian Rhind-Tutt Chapter 148 – 34:15:02 George MacDonald – narrated by Julian Rhind-Tutt
This was very well done, and was life changing for me.
Excellent collection!
