Growing up, Gravity Falls meant a lot to me. The imaginative adventures, the mystery, and uniqueness constantly grasping my attention. I was more than happy to pick up this book, and even more enthusiastic when I got into it. It's a downright beautiful piece of media - and you can very easily tell how much time, love, and care went into the making of it. The inclusion of varying art, wacky topics, and silly mixed with scary makes it all the better to me. I am happy I got to re-live my favorite media in an all new light.

Right off the bat, you can tell this was made with lots and lots of passion. Each page feels like a treat. You're constantly admiring the fun artwork (and desperately searching for the hidden codes and Easter eggs littered throughout the book). As a fan of the show since it first aired, this book has been my favorite to read since the release of the special edition of Journal 3! It provides crazy insights and connections behind elements of the show while being completely irreverent (just like Bill!). What I wouldn't give for an audiobook of this with Alex Hirsch narrating it. xD New fan or old, this book is silly-fun and creepy. If you've never heard of Gravity Falls, buy this anyway because it will compel you to binge watch the show over and over and over, and re-read the book, and buy the other books, and then you will obsess over a TRIANGLE like the rest of the universe BAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

The one and only Bill Cipher has returned in one of the funniest and most cryptic, fan engaging books of the decade! Learn how to summon the one and only demon himself!! To all those claiming satanicness, be not afraid for Bill is here to save us from our mortal ties and show us a universe beyond human comprehension with a beautifully written and illustrated hard bound book!! In all seriousness though Alex Hirsch is finally back again to share the beautiful universe built by his mind, a universe of mysteries and so many fun interactions and puzzles! New and old combined together: older fans who witnessed the birth and death of the show real time engaging in deciphering codes and secret messages with new younger eyes who are seeing and living the episodes wee cherished with a fresh new look on it’s cryptic texts. This books secrets are still being solved as I type and you dear reader read this review, I cannot wait to see what secrets are uncovered, just remember… THE UNIVERSE IS A HOLOGRAM REALITY IS AN ILLUSION BUY GOLD BYEEEEEEEE!!!!!

To preface this - I know about Gravity Falls and have watched (and enjoyed) a handful of episodes a few years ago with my now teenager son. I haven't watched enough to know the premise, character names, demons etc. Only knew that it was about funny paranormal stuff. And that Mabel was my favorite. With that being said... When my teenage son asked for a book I immediately obliged without doing any research. Just purchased to capitalize on the fact that my teenage son wants to read something. As soon as it arrived I was curious because the book cover looked a bit creepy so I ran to the reviews. Lots of.... opinions lol However, I chose to sit and read this book with my son vs complain about it at surface level. We ended up cracking up at most pages and very much enjoyed it. A lot of it is really silly teenager humor, outrageous situations and some pop culture references. Yeah, there's mention of demons, monsters, alternate realities and spells.... but it's not training your child to be an occultist. Not by any means, so please relax. Theres a whole 3 pages dedicated to a 2 billion year old Time Baby who just learned what a cow sounds like. It's silly, not scary. The creepiest page to me was one where you have to read it in a mirror because it's backwards. But only because I hate perceiving myself. As far as the literary value - appropriate reading level for teenagers. Has some decent "big words" which always help add to their vocabulary. The pages are formatted in a way that keeps the reading interesting and fun, vs bricks of paragraphs. Great funny graphics that made me personally laugh out loud many times. If you are cool with occasional and very mild "occult" references, and can appreciate some silly humor or like watching the show... I definitely recommend this book. We really enjoyed it and spent good time together reading for fun.

My 12 year old daughter was thrilled with the book! She found the artwork to be well-done, cool, and captivating. She described the humor as funny and a little dark. She appreciates the interesting information, thought-provoking themes, and inspiring content. She thinks the story is amazing, with plenty of mystery and unexpected twists. She also mentioned that the book is filled with Easter eggs and is a fantastic addition to the Gravity Falls series. She’s always discovering something new hidden in the book.
