Great quality, heavy, durable, and all around a joyful reading experience. I cherish this book as much as my first born child. 💯🫦😍🙏🥺
This completes the Golden Age arc, but also starts the Lost Children arc--as well as including an early precursor episode inserted in the beginning of the Lost Children arc. This volume serves an important role in shifting us back into the Guts of early episodes but with the majority and character development the Golden Age arc opened up--so this ends up being a character redirection without being a reboot or recon. It's brilliant.
Perfect
Great series this book was amazing!
Years ago, I had hoped to own this series in a larger format, similar to the Akira manga volumes I had read when I was a kid. Not only do we get a large format that does justice to the artwork, we get a beautiful leather bound cover and spine. Like the other 4, volume 5 came in perfect condition. I've seen the print on the spine not be centered for this one for some people; mine came perfectly centered. Your luck may vary. If you're buying this, you probably have already read the other 4 volumes and know the story. This volume ends the Golden Age Arc, and begins the next arc, Conviction. The artwork is beautifully displayed in all its horror and glory, and I was not able to find any egregious mistakes or misprints on my first scan through. If I had one complaint, it would be the awkward placement of the Berserk Prototype chapter. This was the chapter Muira originally submitted for a manga contest prior to getting serialized, and is a neat addition to the collection. However, I would have preferred it be put at the back of the volume, instead of stuffed between chapters. They did leave it until after the end of the Golden Age, but it's still kind of jarring. Overall, volume is 5 a fantastic addition to the new print. I'll be buying all of these as they are released, and plan to keep them forever.
I got volumes 1-8 of the berserk Deluxe editions a month or so ago and I have read through 6 of them! The series is phenomenal I can easily understand why many think it is one of the best mangas produced. I got all 8 deluxe editions without damage which was nice they were all new too. The hard cover and image quality is simply unbeatable I would rather spend $50 on each book just for the better quality than the singles, And even better there are 3 volumes per DLX edition! For me I really started to enjoy the series when the golden age chapter begun at the end of Volume 1 dlx edition! The story is alright but it really picked up and got more enjoyable after that chapter! I really recommend this series to anyone who is very mentally mature!
i decided to buy this volume because as heartbreaking as the volumes in this book are, i absolutely love how kentaro unfolds the story and how detailed his art is (as an artist myself, i wanted to be able to appreciate his art from somewhere other than a computer screen). Compared to the original manga volumes, this book is quite big, so i would definitely recommend it to someone who wants to be able to see the details in the art or anyone who wants a bigger book in general. Speaking of the art, the artwork is very vivid and has a lot of contrasting between the lights and darks, making this even more of an enjoyable read. I’ve seen some people in the reviews complain about a misprint in the spine, but i didn’t have this issue. So just like other products on amazon, yours might be a bit faulty. I wouldn’t worry too much about that, but if you are, i would recommend buying in person instead of online. My book, thankfully, did not come with any damage. They added some bubble bags on top of the package, but not at the bottom. i would’ve definitely changed that, but as i said, my book did not come with any damage so i’m not complaining. It does include the cover art for all three volumes, so you don’t need to worry about missing out on those. Overall, if you are a berserk fan, you DEFINITELY need to buy this!
I hope I could get all the volumes of this awesome series, a piece of art on a well-deserved deluxe edition worth every penny.
